Finally i have had enough of Comcast cable and its endless cable tv rate increases. Now I need to make the choice between DirecTV and the Dish Network. Who offers the bst service and selection for the money? I'm located in MI and am a huge Chicago White Sox fan and I see DirecTV offers Comcast Chicago which shows a lot of Sox games.
Any opinions would be appreciated.

you wont get the sox games on comcast chicago on direct tv.. you will have to buy the mlb package..

you will get whatever other sports they show on there for free , but not baseball..

direct tv would be my choice over dish..

i think any satellite company would offer tvg network.. the only problem is you can only have an account to bet with if youre in a few selected states..

check their rules..

Yes,m777, there are 2 horse racing stations on dish.
It can demand tremendous self restraint though. Many a day I have vegetated in front of the tv with my powerbook fired up on pinnacle & tuned in to channel 405 & 404.
-With dish I subscribe to the NBA & MLB package's, & refrain from hockey & the direct ticket football.
For the NFL you have to get Direct-TV
-I have a new plasma & picture & sound are definitely superior than aldelpia cable. There are issues with strong winds though, causing pixillation such as we had on Thanksgiving Day.

ps> I also got their HD tuner/dvr & HD package. It can be trricky to get locals in HD if you live outside a major city.
-Be prepared for a hefty monthly payment, but, I guess its worth it.

Actually Dish has it so you could set up an TVG horseracing account right through your Dish reciever. Its called Dish interactive. Get the odds and results with your remote. Pretty sick.

I have had Directv for 4 years now and really like it.

If you decide to go with them I would definately get the sports add-on for 11 dollars a month. It includes the NBA station, TVG, The Golf Channel, Espu (alot of live college games in all sports) and all the FOX Sports stations from about 20 different markets.

even if you have the baseball package, you will not recieve your local team playing, the extra innings blacks out the games on comcast in the market you live in...at least that is how it is in philadelphia market, you should call and ask.....then call 2 or 3 more times and ask several ppl cause alot of the reps dont know the answer and will tell you anything...i believe you have to have comcast to get local games, like i said, i think they get blacked out on extra innings in your market...

Yup thats the reason I am thinking of switching over to Dish...to me I get about 300 channels of nothing.

And if the Road Warrior says it, it must be true..

DirectTV is the only providor that has NFL Sunday Ticket and March Madness for the 1st and 2nd round NCAA mens tourney action.

I had DirecTV but recently switched to Comcast...best thing about DirecTV was their dual-tuner DVR (TiVo) system but now comcast has one too, meaning you can record 2 programs at once or watch 1 program while recording another

Also Comcast's HD channel lineup is much better IMO and cheaper and works with the DVr. But I do miss Sunday Ticket...

how bout neither...

get FTA (free-to-air)....I got the Pansat 2500A...you can get Echo 120 and 119 (dishnetwork)...you dont get the ticket, however, you get all the local channels from coast-to-coast...so you`ll have all the NFL games...

if you actually grab all the signals...you can get about 3000 channels

its free :)
