I thinka 8 team playoff with the top 8 BCS teams would of been much better then the bowls.

<TABLE cellSpacing=1 cellPadding=2 width="100%" border=0><TBODY><TR class=bg2 vAlign=center align=right height=17><TD align=left>1 Southern California</TD></TR><TR class=bg2 vAlign=center align=right height=17><TD align=left>2 Texas</TD></TR><TR class=bg2 vAlign=center align=right height=17><TD align=left>3 Penn State</TD></TR><TR class=bg2 vAlign=center align=right height=17><TD align=left>4 Ohio State</TD></TR><TR class=bg2 vAlign=center align=right height=17><TD align=left>5 Oregon</TD></TR><TR class=bg2 vAlign=center align=right height=17><TD align=left>6 Notre Dame</TD></TR><TR class=bg2 vAlign=center align=right height=17><TD align=left>7 Georgia</TD></TR><TR class=bg2 vAlign=center align=right height=17><TD align=left>8 Miami (Fla.)</TD></TR></TBODY></TABLE>

But will probably never happen just think what kind of money they could make from a network for the rights to the NCAA football tournament.

December college football is the most overrated sport their is. Who cares about these exhibition games. freaking utah runs the table last year and they play Pittsburgh in a meaningless game. Freak that. Playoff is already in place if they use the BCS games. You play these games and winners advance. Your talking about only three more games. tweak this a little and you almost have a month thats as good as March. I could give a shit about any of these games. And this stupid argument that the games in the regular season are more important in this sport. Thats BS too. How important are anybodys games after they lose one. If their was a 8 team playoff with these 4 BCS games Notre dame-USC would have been alot more important because with the Irish already having a loss, meant their season was done anyway. With a chance to be in a playoff the game would have been more important.

I agree mostly but screw these automatic bids to BCS Bowls. Where is Oregon in this years BCS Bowls ? 8-4 pathetic Florida State is in and 10-1 Oregon who's only loss was to USC goes to a garbage Bowl ! BS IMHO !

and this my friend is why in my opinion college football is not better than the NFL. It leaves you with an empty feeling at the end of the season.

i love the Bowl games. I could care a less if there is a so called college football champion. would not change my life in the least.

The bowl have tradition and I would get rid of the BCS. Get back to the Rose Bowl, Orange etc. meaning something.

GOing to the BCS system was the absolute worst thing that ever happened to college football. If you are going to break down the years of tradition then you go to a structured playoff system, not some half-assed formula that has too many holes in it. If they are going to have all these bowl games (way too many) then go to playoff format already!!!!!! BTW, it is inevitable - there will be a playoff implemented based on public outcry alone. I say within 4 years.

A 16 team playoff would be the cooleest thing ever(won't happen). I'll take an 8 team-which is very feasible.

The bigger question would be, "Who likes the College Bowl season in terms of gambling?"

I figure this to be my most profitable time of the year. Thats how i get excited for bowl season.

I'm no sharp by any means but it gives me more time to research my picks. I usually like betting on the better coaching staff, on or against teams with coaching changes depending on the situation (usually against), and teams the public loves. I also try to look for line movement against the heavy action. Off the top of my head, last year's 4 big plays were against UCLA, Texas, Cal and Oklahoma. In all 4 games, I believe the public was heavy on one side but the line moved in the opposite direction. From what I have seen, bowl season is a profitable time for some people.

Sorry to go OT.

whoops I bet it again

What tradition ? The BCS has ruined all of the old tradition. It actually was far better before the BCS ever stuck their ignorant noses into it. Why not just play the Bowls like they used to for 100 years it seems and then after the Bowls, Number 1 plays number 4 and 3 plays number 4, winners play off for the real Championship. 3 extra games would not do anything but make everyone more $$ and have a huge impact and would decide a real Champion each year.

You still would have thee useless bowls in place to gamble on. I'm just talking about using these BCS games that are already in place and have them narrowed down to 4 teams and then play them off. You would actually get 3 more games to gamble on. Don't see a problem from your perspective

Do you believe that Florida ( 16 ), Louisville ( 15 ) , Alabama ( 13 ) , VT ( 12 ) , WV ( 11 ) , LSU ( 10 ) , MIAFL ( 9 ) does have less chances of beat USC or Texas than what the other 6 teams actually have? ( AP poll ).

Just drop the term BCS ! Do it the old way because all the BCS has done is mess with all the old tradition and make all but one Bowl meaningless. Who needs the BCS. After the old traditional Bowls are played. AP number 1 plays number 4 and 3 plays 4... Then winner play for Championship. Everyone is happy as far as bowls are concerned except they are 3 extra lucrative games left. Only problem would be how to distribute all the extra $$

And a play-off system wouldn't? What a dumb reason for liking the bowl system!

There is no reason why the bowls cant be played and the playoff too. Its been worked out for them by many people. They need to put a limit on the budget of the programs and take all the money they could generate and improve the education system. You have school teachers and the idiiot NCAA trying to do something they are just not capable to do.
