2 things.....one, i will never make this mistake again...during the ALDS the games started around 4pm......i remember the Red Sox were beating the White Sox 5-0.....then Chicago scored 6 runs in the 5th or 6th inning and i was going crazy...in front of a bunch of ppl someone asked me why i ws so excited, they thought i was a Phillies fan.....of course i repleid, without thinking, that i hade $300.00 on the White sox.....everyone looked at me like i was from another planet....I told them i was just kidding and I was excited cause my dad is from Chicago, which he isnt, but had to get the attention away from me....

second, the other night i was meeting a girl for a second date, and decided to go to a bar down the street, and get a few in me before i met with her for drinks...conviently, the Flyers game was on, which i had the Flyers to win for $100.00.....the ml was -200.......anyway, they were playing the Thrashers and had a 2 goal lead with 1:30 to go in the game....Flyers gave up 2 goals in the waining seconds of the game and lost in overtime....i had struck up conversation with a guynext to me and mentioned I just lost $200.00 on that shit and he said he didnt even know you could bet on hockey, finished his drink and moved his seat.....

i have decided to be extra, extra, extra discreet in my public gambling outbursts....anyone have similar experiences?

People forget how many Pilgrims there still are in the world. They just don't wear the goofy hats and black dresses anymore. I never say a word at work and, in general, I try to remember that people that do not gamble on sports, hate hearing about what somebody has on a game. They just do not get it. I only talk to fellow gamblers about gambling.

even with worldwideweb prominence, sports gambling is way out on the fringes of society... definitely not for everyone

what if it did become more popular? a lot of today's players would move on to something else...

The March Madness pool and fantasy football rosters are OK to share with co-workers, family, and friends. However I believe it is best to keep your day-to-day (whether winning or losing) gambling secret from others in personal life.

Co-workers to tell others business via grapevine. Family wont understand unless they are also gamblers. Some friends will be jealous and expect you to buy when you win, but will secretly wish for you to lose. Your date will think you are a cheap ass if you win a dime on a game and she only gets a box of candy, but will equally think you are a dumbass when you lose a dime on a game.

Rx and thousands of posters provide ample ways to bounce ideas, bragging, and venting. So, no real need for everyone in personal life to know about gambling.

JMHO, and I have been gambling and/or been around gamblers my entire life.

Yup, have also been burned in business with this. Don't like to stifle myself in regards to this, it's not like I'm a big-action daily player but some co=workers in the past have gone to the uppers and told tales of what a low-life I must be for betting football and ...God forbid, betting and watching horse racing on the internet. The horror... the horror!
