I know it seems kinda dumb to ask, but how the hell can you bet on a game in the 2nd half if you don't watch or listen to it? It's impossible to get a view of how the game's going just based off of stats going by... I mean we've all done it, myself included, SEVERAL times. I mean I'm not mocking anyone here, as everyone has their own thing, but how can you proclaim a 2nd half bet on a game you haven't watched or listened to the game of the year? Really a serious question for anyone who does these types of things with success.

Washington Generals? Nah, I always take the Globetrotters minus the number at half.

I can make a bet on a full side or total without seeing any of the game

You can garner a certain amount of information from the stats.. they give you an idea of how the players are doing on the night, combine that with pre-game handicapping etc..

I mainly do it to hedge positions though

watching the game and listening for stats don't mean crap.
NBA 2 teams total 130 points first half
2nd half open total is 100 points

Guess what? total for 2nd half was 75 points. How do you get from 130 to 75 points? tired, exhausted or just not covering the total 100 points?

You can look for some general things. If it appears OT is a reasonable possibility you may think twice about under ( NBA). Teams like Phoenix don't let up ( esp. last year) so I wouldn't be afraid to back them if up good at the half. Toronto loses late. When I see a low scoring Q1 and much more scoring in Q2, I'm inclined to lean towards an over. NFL teams up big at half, have me thinking about H2 under, etc.

Several mathematical theories can glean positive expectation based on statistical analysis alone.

Game flow is easier to discern with visual proof, but aberrations from the mean can be seen with analytical data.

A combination of the two is the most likely advantageous scenario for profit, but raw data and visual nuances are of no use if you don't know what to look for anyway.

I hope this made sense to someone.
