Pierre is gone and the Marlins fleeced some live young arms from another short-sighted team.

D-Train and Cabrera stay along with 23 guys you will need an almanac to find.

The good news is there are about 20 live arms in the farm system now and in three years, the Fish will be absolutely loaded (think hapless Braves when Glavine, Smoltz, Avery came up).

Get your digs in now, because while teams like the Cubs and Orioles will continue to tread water, the Fish will reload and be back.

I really like what Florida is doing. Everyone knocked them the last time they did this and they built a World Series team. I think they can do it again.

Even if they don't, I will always root for a team that isn't overpaying and making this sport the most ridiculous out of all the majors.

Local news here is that Hyzinga (or however you spell the Marlin's owners name) will fund a new stadium with his own loot to keep them here. I don't think they will be going anywhere. Vegas is dreaming. The mayor keeps hoping but it will never happen. I lived in Vegas for 23 years and of course, there are just too many other things to do there and everyone is so transient that they would have no support for the team. Unfortunately, I think that is the case in Miami where there are too many things to do and too many retirees.

Jeffrey Loria owns the fish, so you may want to start watching a new News station!

Two titles, cant knock them for that. I'm sure the Cubs would'nt mind being made fun of with two WS in the last 10 years.

If I am correct, the Marlins are number two in WS titles in the last 10 to 15 years, behind only the Yankees.
Obviously, they are doing something right.

Hyzenga or however you spell it (owner of the Dolphins) offerred land and money to the Marlins so that they would stay in Miami but with the firesale they had, it'll be hard to keep them in Miami. Hyzenga used to own the Marlins so I guess he would like to see them stay in Miami.

Not shortsighted by the Cubs. This is the leadoff hitter that they wanted and didn't have. Cubs have a lot of young arms. Frankly, Mitre is not a top-shelf prospect IMHO, though he should geta shot in Florida. Nolasco and Pinto are good prospects, but Cubs have several more talented. Good deal on both sides. Cubs got the guy they needed and Marlins got the best arms they could.

Pierre will love bunting at Wrigley Field and running out the grass-eaten grounders.

Agree that the Cubbies desperately needed anyone in the outfield (where's Blue Edwards and the Corey Patterson love). Was saying in general the Cubs haven't made the sharpest moves, not this one specifically.
