There is also a video there which shows two passengers account of the situation. Both saying they heard nothing about mention of a bomb.

So now here is the question. Do they have the authority to kill a person for running down the jetway with a bag?

At some point you have to have faith in the screening process. Even though this was an international flight venezuela has the same screening procedures we do. They scan the carryons with xray machines for bombs and weapons.

I have a feeling this guy was just having a panic attack. I have had panic attacks before and it really sucks being in close quarters. You want to get out of there at all costs.

saw a video of a passenger on tv last night saying the guy did say something about a bomb and ran off the plane. You got 100 people on a plane, you're going to get 50 different stories!!

No, actually, you have two. The guys who killed him are on one side. Everybody else from the plane on the other. Sure, give them a day or more, some passenger would have to "remember" he's heard the bomb threat, or face the consequences.
The fact you're even discussing if ta guy CLAIMIMG to have a bomb should be shot is ridiculous. Basicly, you enter in McDonalds and shout "Ho ho ho, I have a bomb." they have the right to shoot you immediatly, right? Or is it just that a "plane" is a special word since 9/11? Fucked up society, if you ask me.

The marshals say Alpizar announced he was carrying a bomb before being killed.
However, no other witness has publicly concurred with that account.

fucked up individual if you asked me...

why didnt he take his meds ?

listen up .

if youre on my plane and you start running around claiming to have a bomb and then when asked to get on the ground you go to reach inside a bag , you will end up taking a dirt nap...

its over...

dont yell fire in a theater and dont say bomb on a airplane.. pretty simple when you think about it .

I'm sure alot of people didn't hear him say anything. We are talking about a 757. There roughly 175 feet long. With engines going I would think many people heard nothing but the gun shots.

Zee,

Yes If you yell that in a McDonalds, I have zero problem with you being shot. McDonalds is a public place. Someone with a heart condition could easily be affected by your stupidity. And you twisted Vikings words. He said he saw video of a passenger who stated he also heard the bomb comment.

WNO,
The guy HAD bipolar. He is stable as fuck right now. I'm fine with this guy being shot. Bomb or Not. You disobey a Federal Air Marshalls order, you will be shot. Bomb or not. You just can't take that chance. I don't give a fuck if you are comfortable laying on the ground. Place your hands behind your back like you are told.

youre preaching to the choir budworth...

i would have shot him as he was running down the isle of the plane.. no games on a airplane.

you put your shit up top , you sit down , you fasten your seatbelt and turn off your phone. then you shut the fuck up and wait for your peanuts..

i think people should be shot for not putting their seat backs in the upright position before landing...

I think the title of this thread should be changed. It's becoming more obvious that he did say Bomb. They have shown several witnesses on tv who have comfirmed that claim.

There is a simple way to solve this. They should make the rules on the back of your ticket more clear. You act up on an airplane, you are liable to be shot and or killed if your behavior has potential to put others at risk. Maybe if a guy is using a cell phone, don't shoot him just cuff him. But charging at a federal officer? Yeah they made the right call.

You guys have no clue where the real danger is on the airplanes; It's not human, it's right under your seat a few feet... Much of the luggageon board airplanes aren't screaned for explosives... There's one for you to ponder.:icon_conf

I like that saying WNO. Never heard it before, but I guarantee you that'll I use it 3 times before the week is over.

Yeah, I read the CNN article on this topic today, and not one passenger heard any mention of the word 'bomb'.

Not having been there when this happened, I'd like to be able to trust the marshalls' recollection of what was said, especially since this guy appeared erratic and out of control. But maybe this was a case of CYA by the marshalls. Even if it is, I'd still have no problem with those same marshalls sitting next to me on my next flight. If I was married to someone who was unmedicated and bipolar, however, I might have a different opinion.

It seems from that article that it remains to be seen as to whether or not he made a bomb threat. No passengers that they have interviewed thus far can account for it but the air marshalls are saying he did (of course). It would be nice to hear one passenger say that they heard it too or what a disgrace to the American people and some of our law enforcements zeal to unholster and use their power.
