As some know i have been shopping for a satellite radio for my wife. after i bought the XM, i found out i needed sirus instead of XM. the one i purchased was from Ebay. well, about 45 mins after the purchase i tried to email the seller on ebay that i in fact purchased the wrong one, and to see if i could get a refund, or exchange it for a sirus if he had one available.

well, he never returned my emal. so now i have this XM radio i dont want, so i mailed in for the $50 rebate that was offered, and relisted it on Ebay as brand new(which it is)

well, as it climbed up over $140 the same asswhipe that sold it to me, has a big on it. from the looks of his feeback, he is a whole saler i suppose, selling nothing but these XM radios.

what i think he is doing is buying it, then not going to pay me, why in the hell would he buy one for over $140 when he sells them whole sale?

so, was i in the wrong to take advatage of the rebate, then list it at the going rate of other NEW XM radios on ebay? after, the prick wont email me, and there is no contact number.

look at his rating as a seller and buyer the feedback could tell you if he plans to pay. To many complaints and ebay kicks you off and if he is a wholesaler last thing he wants is the boot.

I dont think you can cancel a bid, however, I think you can cancel the auction altogether....

I agree with the above comments, look at his buyer/seller rating, you are presuming that he would not pay, but you dont know, perhaps he bid on it legit for some reason....

dont know all the details....

is his bid the winning bid so far?

I don't see anything wrong with taking the rebate and re-selling the product, as long as you don't advertise a rebate as being available and show you cut the UPC from the box, or whatever you had to do.

I knew a guy who screwed up and bid on something he didn't want. He created another e-bay account and outbid himself with the ghost bidder. The ghost looked like a stiff, and the guy was merely an honest ebayer who got outbid.

Bid retraction is allowed, but it is noted in your feedback file. If you went with the "buy now" options, I'm not sure what the rules are.

I see nothing unethical about what you did.

You can also get a third party prog, like Nabit to watch your auction from the desktop. Then you'll know if the bidding status changes or if anyone will challenge him on the bid, in real time. But yeah, it's always a god idea to check the feedback. You can check that vicariously through Nabit too.
