some do, some don't

APEX players generally will play any format media

Most of the time no they do not. You have to convert the avi or mpg file to a format that your dvd player will recognize. You will need software to do this, like NERO or others.

Philips DVP642 DVD player, makes a great 2nd player and will play most everything, cheap too

Thanks for the input...I have alot of files in those fprmats and want to be able to play them on a DVD player. Will do some research on the Phillis DVP642 and others
