Is there any way to change a wager after it is confirmed online? I have made this mistake more than once were I clicked on the wrong side. Is there any way to change the bet back or would it just be best to bet the other side? :monsters-

The first thing to do is call the sportsbook immediately and see if they can accommodate you by canceling the wager.

If not, you must do as you say and bet the other side and lose the vig or just let the wager stand.

Diagree there Dante. Most books will let you change if you:
a) Call immediately
b) Explain the error and what the wager you actually want is
c) they have not moved the line or received an offsetting wager (more for prop bets that have lower volume)

It never hurts to call.

Disagree Dante, believe it is most certainly worth trying..........for the simple reason one has nothing to lose and everything to gain.

Do agree with you though, most sportsbooks will not do this, although in the past have had a couple instances where certain books have been kind enough to save my stupid *ss from my mistakes.

I have made 3 errors in my life that I can recall with wagering and not in ONE case was I allowed to change and I called , ( we are not talking huge $$ here I think the biggest was $80.00) ...they said very politely Sorry sir after you hit CONFIRM the second time you look at your wager on the CONFIRM screen it is a bet...

I totally understand that and understand...and IMO you have to be responsible for the bet you make and live with it

that said...I guess it can not hurt to call and try

It has happned to me at least four times...where I either wanted to buy a half point and forgot or just hit the wrong team...and with various books and all four times I called immediatley asked to speak to a supervisor and was granted my request. Def. call and be polite and explain your mistake...If the line has not moved they should accomadate the player.

FYI- If this should happen to you in Vegas, MOST ALL books will void your wager for you if you report it in a reasonable timeframe, the line has not moved, etc., etc.

MAKE SURE TO CHECK YOUR TICKETS BEFORE LEAVING THE WINDOW!!

Be advised, Vegas sportsbooks are not obligated to void your wagers after you leave the window, but most as mentioned will try and accommodate you if you come back to the window shortly after placing the wager AND the line on the game hasn't changed.

update

I am glad to report that Pinnacle cancelled the wager for me. Thanks for all the help. Here was there response:

Your request to cancel an internet play was received and we have cancelled your play for you this one time.

We apologize that our software does not yet allow you to do such a transaction on-line. Until we have made this advance, we are not in a position to accommodate these requests. If we were to do so, it would cause major gridlock for our Customer Service Department.

Our rules state we do not cancel or change any plays. All internet plays are clearly displayed for review. The client is asked to re-enter his password as confirmation that all plays are correct.

We will be unable to grant future requests to cancel any wagers.

Regards,

Most will change it I have found...they don't want to lose a customer long term...especially if the # hasn't moved...always call and ask if its within a reasonable time period.

It would be my luck that the wager that I cancelled ends up a winner. Just to let you know I cancelled the Eastern Michigan+5.5 when I actually wanted Western Kentucky+5 that was a different game listed just below it.

They mean it too. If it is reasonable they will cancel the first request at pinnacle, but never again.

I think it all depends on the book you are with. I have been able to cancel a few plays at Heritage when I called them and explained the situation. The key is to be pleasant to CS. Remember, you screwed up, not them. You are asking them for a favor. Both times I called, I started it with "Look Im a bit of an idiot and made a mistake. Can you help me out?" They were very happy to do so. Just told me to be more careful next time. Just dont make a habit of it.

I have made the mistake on which team I selected 3 or 4 times in the last couple of years and have immediately called and asked politely if it could be reversed and ALWAYS had my request granted. Most sportsbooks are happy to have you as a customer and want to keep you happy. That has been my experience.

I have made my share of mistakes when entering online, but many of the books have backed out my play if I called customer service right away. The longer you wait, the more reluctant they may be to cancel your play.

I have made this mistake with at least five different books. When I called all but one agreed to cancel the original bet.

I have done this as well
Probably 2 times in about 3 years

Both at the same book...They gladly canceled it for me
I did contact them about 2 mins after placing it
As long as you are not an abuser, I see no reason why they wouldn't want to keep the client happy.....A mistake is a mistake...Just how they sometimes put up bad lines, and then cancel the wagers

I would say once a year or something to that effect, they should allow it
