Hey bro, thanks for asking. New job is cool. I had one day of training today, and I'm ready to start working. Job will be a piece of cake. Green Doberman hooked me up, and he's now helping me get enrolled in the dealer school that the casino has. Apartment is $800 a month, so I'm gonna have to work my tail off to be able to put any money away. I am in a good, safe area though, and felt it was worth it to spend the extra $200 to live where I am living. I just want to get through dealer school and then work 2 jobs. I'm really hating poker right now. I get Kings and I think "might as well fold, cause I know I'm gonna raise before the flop and then lose to a flush." I just don't like the game very much. It's fun for a couple hours once a month, but when you play a lot, it's like a job, and a boring one at that. I think dealing craps would be a really fun job, because there is so much action, and the time would go by fast. I'm hoping right now to deal both craps and poker, one full-time and one part-time, and see where that takes me. But as far as playing poker, it seems that there are better investments of time and effort. Having an enjoyable job that is fairly lucrative would be far better than to be subjected to the daily ups and downs of the poker life. Hell, even if it's not lucrative, at least you can just live your life without pressure and heartbreak daily. Those are my thoughts right now. I'm lonely out here, but I'm content and thankful for the opportunities that are in front of me. Some days, like tonight, I really miss home, cause I would have surely made the trip to St Louis to see the Illini-Mizzou game. But I have no regrets. I really don't know a whole lot about you, but I would say that if hearing about my life intrigues you, and you have thought about moving out here, just do it. You can always move back after a week or 5 years, whatever.djking said:
thx for the update. my only concern is the smog. i've thought about a far suberb, like Mesquite or even St. George, Ut just so I can hit Vegas for a quick road trip like during the SuperBowl or March Madness. I was there for the big dance in '04 and have never experienced so much eurphoria in my life
I have read some of Wayne Roots books about how great vegas is, especially coming from a blue state like New York where he did. He says the taxes he saves pays for his mortgage so he's living for free

glad to hear you're doing alright. I'm glad you're working now; poker just seems like too big of a fucking hassle. I'm technically a "grad student at large" here at ISU. My boss said I should get an MBA . . . what do you think? Wouldn't that be crazy, the False Dmitri with an MBA?
Also, if I could work it out, I'm thinking of taking a leave of absence from ISU and go work in Iraq for a year. You can bring a boatload of money home (albeit at the risk of getting your head lopped off on national tv)
I would at least be using my stupid degree in Middle Eastern history. Not a likely possibility, but it would be sweet.
