Anyone close to the Appalachian State program aware of QB Richie Williams' status? I've been trying to follow the story throughout the week, but it's tough to figure out whether or not he's healthy enough to play. Latest I read, backup QB was going to start -- Williams' availability would be a gametime decision.

Would love any reliable info. Been wagering on a daily basis for 25 years (29 if you count the coveralls I used to pass out in HS...geez, I'm getting old)....If Williams is unable to go, I will wager more $$ on Northern Iowa than on any other single bet I have ever made.

bernie, you're kidding right? you will wager more on uni than you have ever wagered on one single bet! anyway, word i get is he will be available but does not start. im taking the points and the decided home field advantage. but my play is a lean and not even close to a play of a lifetime as yours is.

ASU backup is no slouch. He never lost a game in high school and was SC's Mr. Football. True, the guy doesn't have a ton of experience, but he's got talent.

he may have talent, but Appalachian State is a COMPLETELY different team without Williams. Can't compare the two in no way.

I hear you, but they managed to beat Furman with Williams out most of the game. App State may be a different team, but I wouldn't make the "largest bet of my life" solely on the fact that Trey Elder could possibly be the starter. I watched the kid play in high school and he can get it done. We'll see--either way it should be a good game.

Williams will probably play, but not 100%. Either way App St should be a small favorite in this game. Anything over +3 on App St is a GIFT

N Iowa is coming on strong though in playoffs, but I expect App St to win. It was a surprise that N Iowa got this far, so surprise that App St is here, App St is loaded.

I was wrong about Elder--he didn't come out and save the day. Gutsy performance by Richie Williams and this ASU defense is playing their balls off.

Great game. It would be nice to see App State hang on and win (and/or cover).

Bad coaching call, though this kid got lucky in picking up the first down.
