not related to gambling:

i refinanced my mtg in 2003. just came to find out that the bank has my ssn wrong. i have sent them all the paperwork to correct the problem but here is my concern: it was the irs that caught the error. they contacted wells fargo and requested proof of my ssn. here is my question...will this result in an audit?

I don't imagine that you're looking at an audit.

Since the refinance you've filed returns for the years 2003 and 2004. If anything is in question, are your returns for those years tight? I assume the bank responded to the IRS with the correct SSN so you "should" be cool.

Well if the accountant prepared, filed and signed the return he/she is a partner in "crime" so to speak. You're just the uneducated simpleton who put all his trust in the highly skilled CPA in the eyes of the IRS.

Stay away from red flags like home office deductions and claiming charitible giving above $500 and you should be OK.
