Is this moron (Howard Stern) really worth that kind of coin for Sirius?

Personally, I can't stand the guy......I think he's an idiot, but I'm obvoiusly in the minority.

That is a rediculous amount of money to pay a radio personality.

And I thought Nike gave Lebron too much. This makes that deal look like the joy luck club.

It is not Stern's show or talent that is worth 500 million.

It is his fanbase, which will subscribe to Sirius and boost their revenues and stock.

The only reason Sirius signed him was for the subscribers.

I also would bet there is a clause in the contract that stipulates a minimum amount of new signups for him to get the full 500 million.

They have all the Sports games! This is included in the 13 bucks a month.

BBguy, you are dead on about the subscriber base. I must be turning into an old grump, because I honestly can not stand seeing or hearing him. The guy is an idiot.

Is stuttering Jhon still around?

I guess at this point Sirrus can just give him his own show.

Might as well give one to the woman who think she is underdog too.

I've never seen him on Jay Leno! I dont watch it regularly but I've seen enough.

That seems like an odd fit.

a lot of expenses are coming out of that 100 million per year ...

hell, the base has gone from 600,000 to estimated 3 million by early next year???

This is correct
He is getting paid $500 million over 5 years
BUT

ALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL show overhead and operating expenses come out of that as well....So it is a LITTLE misleading

but no doubt a HUGE premium they are paying, in hopes that a LOT of his fans sign up to Sirius

You know there is going to be a dropoff after the first year

Just like anything else, people will want to hear what all the hype is about, and then they will leave after their year contract is over

I wonder how many NEW people they will get annually from Stern

My wife was laughing at me last night because she was flipping through the channels and stopped at E! just as his show was beginning and I could predict everything he was going to say to the chic as she walked into the studio, you know: Ahhh, nice you have a real nice ass, I bet you're a real slut and blah, blah. Doesn't his shit get old to people after a while? I guess I outgrew it real fast. He was funnier when he had Vin the Retard and Beetlejuice on the show more especially Beetlejuice.

It's all about supply and demand. Sirius' market cap has doubled since they took on Howard Stern. Paying $500 million to increase your worth by a few billion is definitely a worthwhile investment.

My friend used to live in Jacksonville, Fl about 20 years ago and he raved about hearing Grease when he was there. The Grease Man can be found on the net at www.greaseman.org.

Here is a good link for answers to your questions about Grease including why Howard hates him so much (answer: he increased ratings in DC after Howard left).

http://www.faqs.org/faqs/greaseman-faq/

I downloaded some of his mp3's a while back. The man is a lot funnier than Howard. Remember the "bearded clam"?
