Grossman's reaction:

"It's an opportunity that I'm definitely going to take advantage of because of what I've been through. Not only is it a great opportunity just in general, but I've got a little bit more respect for the position I'm in."

Rookie Kyle Orton began Sunday night's game against the Atlanta Falcons, but was replaced at the start of the second half by Grossman after going just 2-of-10 for 12 yards in the first half.

The Bears were leading 6-3 at the break and went on to a 16-3 triumph.

The ONLY move!

Agreed. I thought this team would not win a playoff game. I think they got a chance now. Grossman is average at this point but it's a step up.

I think any team with that kind of defense has to be respected, and remember defense travels in January!

If Grossman can play mistake free ball they have just as good a shot as anyone ...defense travels in the NFL playoffs.

BEARS are LEGIT Superbowl contenders!!

OH
MY
GOD.
People, it's still the same Rex Grossman. He has as much NFL experience as me. He's an improvement over Orton, but a dead turtle would be an improvement over Kyle. Let's not get carried away, shall we? Pitts showed what ANY decent team would do to the Bears, please don't think Grossman in would have changed anything.

Would everyone be this excited if the idiot didn't fumble the INT Grossman threw in the red zone that would have taken points away from their offense?

He didn't do anything that impressed me....although he is a much better QB and option than Orton. I would go with Blake personally. A veteran that can make plays and understands his role.

Did you see Blake play in the preseason? Guy is completely washed up. Not to mention I blieve he is hurt now. Nobody would start Blake over Grossman.

Just so we're clear that Carolina, Tampa and Atlanta are not decent teams.

Bears have allowed just single digit points on defense in 9/14 games. #1 defense and you always have a shot. Bears D just had an off agme against Pitt. It happens.

Yeah, and when *it* happens for ONE QUARTER in the playoffs, your offence should be there to step up for you. Not gonna happen.

Yeah, nobody argues the point. Marvelous defence. Unforunately, having a good defence isn't as rare as having a good offence this days.

I think it's an Iowa thing....The Bears are the closest pro team. I have the same delusions about the Chiefs due to my time in Neb.

You dont have to be a rocket scientist to know Grossman effected this team already in just those few plays. Genius move by Lovie because these last 2 weeks gives Grossman just enough time to get ready for genuine game shape form in the playoffs. (And he wont be all fatigued like other QB's will probably be heading into the playoffs) He has a better arm, better vision, better intelligence, better everything then Orton.

When Grossman came onto the field, I saw an expanded playbook and a QB with more mobility. However, that mobility didn't lead to better passing because I also saw a lot of recklessness. He threw a red zone pick and had one deep pass that was haphazardly thrown to a receiver and his defender up for grabs. Could make the case for pass interference that time. (Overall it was his first drive in more then a year, so rustyness was expected). We may now have a QB capable of throwing more yardage, but at what price? It may be what the fans want, but is it a better formula to win games? I am extremely cautious in considering what happened Sunday night a good thing in the long term, but I'm now looking forward to seeing if Grossman can make some improvements. If he can, dont be shocked if the Bears are NFC champs.
