My take on this, is two fold
NY's is more enamored with tainting Boston's World Series, that for that money please can I drive Johnny there for you. A very good ball player, but way too emotional and maybe already have seen his best days, to pay that price. That is like a car right off the lot. Immediate depreciation of 20%.
And as far as Damond, hey, I always felt that he felt slighted over Manny's attention and Ortiz as his side kick. I really thought Damon should have been the Series MVP, but I love Manny and he won.
I will say that I feel if Johnny does not perform right away, the NY contigent will get personal with Mr Emotional, and I do not think Johnny will like that and it surely will not encourage his performance.
And as far as where MLB right now. Boston will always be a contender, because they are now as powerful as any franchise for the next decade, even if they do not win another one in the decade.
And we will see how much Theo is missed as well.....I am betting not much!!
