First of all, there is no mafia. We don't exist....I mean it doesn't exist.:neenee:

HAGEN
(very gently)
The Roman Empire... when a plot
against the Emperor failed, the
plotters were always given a chance
to let their families keep their
fortunes.

PENTANGELI
Yeah, but only the rich guys. The
little guys got knocked off. If
they got arrested and executed, all
their estate went to the Emperor.
If they just went home and killed
themselves, up front, nothing
happened.

HAGEN
Yeah, that was a good break. A
nice deal.

Pentangeli looks at Hagen; he understands.

PENTANGELI
They went home and sat in a hot
bath and opened their veins, and
bled to death. Sometimes they gave
a little party before they did it.

Hagen throws away his cigar. Pentangeli puffs on his.

HAGEN
Don't worry about anything, Frankie
Five-Angels.

PENTANGELI
Thanks, Tom. Thanks.

The attempt on Pentangeli's life was made by the Rosato's on Roth's order. Anthony Rosato (played by Danny Aiello) tried to garrot him, saying "Micheal Coreleone says hello" which adds some confusion

fat,

first you say it was michael...then you say roth hired the rosado's. well, which is it?

also, why does rosado try to cause confusion by saying "michael corleone says hello" if he is just going to kill frankie anyway? and dont say the plan all along was for the cop to come in and stop him from finishing him off...i aint buying that.

Where did I say it was Michael on the attempt in the bar?

You first asked "Who killed Frankie Five Angels"? That was Tom Hagen suggesting Frankie to kill himself.

Roth was the one responsible for the hit in the bar.

You see, Roth wanted Michael to go under so he set up Frankie to go after him.

That's why Frankie squealed to the Feds. He thought Michael was trying to kill him. He was trying to save his ass. The brother showing up at the hearing changed everything.

right but, frankie was supposed to die in the bar. how could he have squealed to the feds if he was dead? the cop coming in is what saved his ass but, you cant tell me that rosado and/or roth set the whole thing up.
