They don't let you pay them off anymore in Tampa, too many people you'd have to grease anyway. A lot of the longtime big games have left for Winter Haven and surrounding areas years ago where it is safe. They been busting poker games in Tampa and St Pete for years and years. In fact they were the geniuses that busted a group of old men playing poker for quarters one time. Yep, it made all the papers as they hauled these 75 year old men in for playing cards at a country club I believe it was. That "bust" is what eventually resulted in the law being changed. That is why it is legal to play poker for quarters if the pot doesn't get over $10 I think it was.
Anyway for the most part they still leave you alone if you don't get any complaints and it's not election time. They like to show they are tough on gambling when it's time to vote so keep a low profile. The other way you get busted in when someone's wife calls in as they are tired of the old man blowing the rent money at the game. Just guessing on all this, I have never been arrested for this in my life, I swear!
