Spurs-Pistons. What a bore. Regular season NBA is just unbearable outside of the last few minutes of the game. Should have had an NFL triple header or even the insight.com bowl instead.

The difference is that in most NFL games, the players play hard for 60 minutes knowing that every play counts. NBA players play 75% for 3+ quarters and 90% for the last 5 minutes. Crowd sits on their hands for 3+ quarters while NFL crowds are pumped from the start. There's no comparison what so ever in the level of intensity. Can't really blame them since they play 82 freakin games and over half the league makes the playoffs.

PKJ-
Isn't it tough enough to spend the entire day with family you only see once a year? Why make the day worse by making yourself watch NBA. They should use NBA games as an interogation tool. Make a suspect sit through 1-2 quarters of NBA and they will be singing like a canary.

Just trying to comprehend how anybody finds it appealing and venting because it is the only sport on while the little lady cooks and we wait for everyone to get here.

No sport can compare, in intensity throughout and fan involvement, than the NFL or college basketball. College football can also be included when it's actually a good game and not one of the hundreds of lopsided games. But college bball and football are a joy simply because of the fans and the players always giving it their all.

You must of never watched the NHL playoffs or the World Cup of Soccer. Those two sports can compare quite nicely.

I really do love the NBA. But it's getting harder to be a fan every year. The playoffs were fairly boring for the most part last year also.

No, that's true, I wasn't thinking of those...the NHL playoffs are very intense(I've actually attended a NHL playoff game, it rocked)...World Cup is also insane, but every four years? You can't really count that. As for the NHL, the entire regular season reminds me of the NBA(although a hockey game is probably more entertaining in person during the reg. season than NBA if you're a general sports fan)...but the sport is on it's freakin death bed.

And I was talking about regular season games. For regular season, you can't compare anything with the NFL or college bball/football.

SH: I've talked to a couple guys with NBA experience and they assure me this is baloney.

Sure, not every player can give that 90-100% focus and exertion for a full 40+ minutes every single nite.

But with few exceptions, they all try. Those that don't try that hard (for example giving just "75%" first 3 1/2 quarters) will eventually be beaten out of a job by a guy who will give 80, 85, 90% or more.

Remember that for the top 100 players, a full time, full salaried job might well be a "sure thing" provided they show up and give a consistent winning effort more nights than not.

But that leaves another 200-250 players who are working their asses off to make it into the top 6-7 rotatation, or to qualify for a bigger or longer term contract.

I usually hear this type of complaint from

1) A guy who is losing bets on the NBA

2) A true fan whose favorite teams are losing more than he likes

3) A combination of 1 and 2 above

4) A bored guy on Christmas with no football or other sports to keep his attention, like PKJIM....heh
