check at www.samsclub.com They got Philiphs for about $1300 and 32' Vizo for $900. The good thing about Sam's is that you can return your TV whenever you want to as long as you have your receipt.

In the same boat. This forum has several opinions posted recently about big screens, ( DLP's, LCD's, and plasma's.) Check search option above!
Having looked for about two weeks, I have yet to make up my mind. Plus + Minus to every option from my perspective. I saw a 36 inch Sony tube HDTV, that still has the best picture IMO for $1350 at Circuit City. If you can handle the bulk, it may be a consideration. Also saw the Sony Bravia LCD 40" and was not that impressed and a $3149 price to boot. The best LCD picture witnessed thus far is the Sharp Aquos 37 inch. However;
I don't remember the price and they also have the same version in a 42" screen.
