My inlaws booked a 4 day cruise for my wife's family as a present to the family. After the inital excitement wore off I looked at the dates and its March 29 - April 3 - the same weekend as the the NCAA final four! So the degenerate gambler in me wants to know will they have TV's on the cruise using satellite or something or am I SOL? Not sure of the cruise line but its a 4 day cruise from Tampa to Conzumel Mexico and back. I've never been on a cruise so I am not sure what to expect. Thanks

the ones I have been on in the carribean have a sportsbar with ESPN Deportes playing. Went down one night to catch some baseball scores, but had to sit through a half hour of soccer highlights on ESPN Deportes Sportscenter before they finally got to the baseball. Would think they would air the Final Four, but it may be in spanish with english subtitles.

They definetely should.
My brothers and I were on a Carnival cruise a few years ago during the NBA finals and we could watch it both in our room and at the bar on the ship.

I just got back from a very similar cruise to Cozumel and Costa Maya...

They have sports on TV but some is on Mexican ESPN and you get some network (CBS, ABC) games BUT BUT if you watch MEX ESPN you have to sit through...as said above....loads of soccer. More soccer than anyone could ever want to watch ever in the history of man and the universe. But....overall, there was decent availability.

Better yet, my ship had high speed internet access and I enjoyed that more than anything for watching scores and following games. Good luck. tulsa

What ever you do, never book a cruise on Carnival, it's the "white trash" of cruise lines.. Food sucked, people (shipmates) were ignorant scumbags (50% of them).. I have had better food at Ponderosa... The night of our "formal dinner" they tried to pass off a sirloin as a tenderloin (filet) it was cut like a filet.. I ordered mine med rare and it was a chewey hockey puck, fucking sucked... The only thing good about the cruise was the poker.. we played 4-8 limit and cleaned up! Also did good in the casino...We were on the "Fantasy".. more light a nightmare...

I have taken 7 cruises on 4 different cruiselines and it is total hit or miss. Cruiselines have gotten better but getting tv stations is not a given. Some have had non network tv and some have. Most did have ESPN deportes.

Even if they do have what you want there are times when the ship direction will not allow you to get stations in because of the direction the satalitte is pointed in. Also don't go by what the CSR of the cruiseline tells you on the phone. They will say anything to get you to come.

One last thing. Sometimes you will get network stations close to the US but lose them once you get a distance away.

Since the games will be on CBS I am hoping the signals will be available on the ship. I think the cruise line is Norwegian but I am not sure. Guess i may have to get a sportspager after all

There is a good chance your sportspager will not work once you get away from the US. Mine didn't. The expensive option is using the internet. Depending upon what cruiselines rate is. Some you can get a 1hr 2hr 5hr card and some just hit you up at .50/minute. Do you have a wireless laptop? You may want to check with the cruiseline and see if they have that option. It may be alot cheaper in the long run.

I was in Jacksonville at last years Super Bowl and stayed on one of the Holland American Lines ships they docked and used as hotel space. They had a few stations (7 or 8) and at one point dropped one station and put up another. So they might have the ability to get CBS if it's requested.

Be careful they dont throw you off ship this seems to be the biggest scam right now where they fleece you of your money and then throw you off ship it is happening so much but you never hear about it!
