In 1978, Vic Salerno abandoned a lucrative dental practice in Marino del Rey, California, for the life of a Las Vegas bookie. The property he purchased - a seedy downtown joint named Leroy’s - became the leader in high-tech bookmaking and ultimately grew into Nevada’s largest betting chain.
