Why does a horse without a Jockey wins the race (Jockey falls, etc.)? Not that it counts.

Thanks

Good question, it does seem like a lot of jockey-less horses win races. I would guess the logical answers would be: the horse is carrying roughly 120lbs less and/or the horse doesn't have anyone controlling or holding back it's speed. Sometimes the jock is instructed to hold back the horse, disguising it's current form in hopes of a large score at a later race.

Many people don't realize that thoroughbreds are born to run. When they are first born on the farms, one of the first things they do is run around with the mare that gave them life.

After they are trained to race, that's what they will do if loose and without a jockey on the track. Without the weight of the jockey they often times will outrun the one's still racing because the jocks are trying to time when they want to move and the horse is not running freely. Other times they can make a right or left turn and run into the railing. Depends on the character of the horse.

Because horse racing is rigged and they often hold them back.

Doing alot better thank you. I use to breed horses in the 80's and 90's. Not smart, just happen to be familiar with the industry.

as old man ted will tell you a lot of times hores that throw a rider on the way to the post will hop the fence and head back to the barn on instinct. how many mornings i would hear people screaming loose horse loose horse and you better just get the hell out of the way. that meant a horse in the morning had dumped its excersise rider and was on its way back to the barn riderless.
