As I approached post #20K, i tried to figure out what i wanted it to be, something special i hoped, but couldnt decide on exactly what....So i decided to simply thank all the people that have helped me along the way here at the RX, and basically tell the "story" of how Bucsfan67 was created.......
I won't be offended if you ucking: while reading it.....
First off, i want to thank Peep.....yes, thats right, Peep........When i first started out as a poster, Peep was still here....I thought he had a pretty good gig, gettiing paid to work here all day, posting, etc.....So i emailed him one day, asking how he ever got started....He sent me back a nice email explaining how it happened etc...and we talked every now and then after that.....At that point, i had never wagered offshore, i had always used a local.....I was well versed in sports, handicapping, etc, just had never wagered offshore.....Then came a "superbowl" contest in 2002 sponsored by BHB.......Of course, being "bucsfan" you know what i chose....we had to pick the 2 teams to make the superbowl, and the total points of the game as a tiebreaker.........So i selected Tampa Bay and Oakland......only one other person had the same 2 teams, poster Igetp2s, and we ended up being the same points off the tiebreaker and split the $1000 prize.....This was my first offshore account, and thats where it all began......
I began posting more and more, and enjoying it more and more......Eventually i was invited by Peep and The General into the boardroom here at the RX.........
Not long after i was in there, was when Peep left and Uncle B soon behind....2 people, who at the time, i considered friends....I was very sad to see them go........Of course, still being fairly new to the whole "forum" thing, i just thought we would all get along...I registered a name over there, and tried to be a poster there as well....however it didnt take that long to realize, it simply couldnt happen.........They tried to build a site on "hate" and i simply dont care for all that drama....I still think they are both good people, we just have a different point of view....I do wish them success however, and miss the old friendships.....
Patrick McIrish was soon to take over the RX, and i assumed my days were numbered in the boardroom...We had NEVER seen eye to eye, and there was no doubt that he didnt care for me either......and at that time, i had just started getting my feet wet in the "contest arena" quite by accident to be honest.....Madcapper had asked me for help in his baseball contest with BHB.....Since i had won there, and the guys at BHB always treated me very well, i said i would help him......He had told me that he was getting married in August, and would i help him those couple weeks so he could take off, i said sure.....Once he was eliminated from the contest, i seemed to "inherit" it, and had to finish out all the grading over the last month or so, and it all began......I was also posting at Majorwager at the time, and entered a contest there, and lets just say was treated very badly/unfairly by a moderator of the Major's, and basically got the "you work at the RX, so stay over there" routine, and so i did, have never visited/posted there since.....I decided, at that point, that if i wanted fun clean contests to play in, then i better design them myself, and so i did....So in that vein, i need to thank Major indirectly, although he wasnt the one who was rude/unfair to me.....i tried posting at other sites as well such as FBZ, but once again, some of their decisions, and hires, left me wondering why i ever left the friendly confines here, and since i have just dedicated myself to the RX....
From that point on, i dedicated myself to trying to be the contest guru for the RX....I am constantly trying to come up with ideas for contests, talking to advertisers about them, and the rest of the time, is spent grading the ones i have going....And i love it.....
At this point, i would be remiss if i didnt thank 2 other people that were very important in my opportunities here, and thats TheGeneral, and TheShrink.........As i stated before, Patrick and I did not see eye to eye, and on more than one occassion General had suggested me for a mod position, only to be struck down by Patrick.....When it became known to everyone that Patrick was going to walk the plank, i was offered a mod position the next day, and gladly accepted.....This was all due to Ken and General......And i thank them for that....I always have/still consider the General to be a friend, and am sad about the way things happened, but such is life.....Ken was always good to me, anytime i needed anything, he was always there, and for that i will always be grateful...he also has a beautiful wife who i met in person, and is truly a "nice lady"....I enjoyed visiting with her at the bash, and will always consider her a friend.....Therefore i owe alot to them Both, and Thank them for the GOOD TIMES.......
By the time they left, i felt i had made my "niche" here, and really was worried about the direction the RX might go.....I couldnt have been more wrong....I had only met Marty briefly at the 2004 bash, so i wasnt sure what to expect, and of course feared that things would change here...I COULDN'T HAVE BEEN MORE WRONG.....Marty has been nothing but GREAT to all the employees, and we have move forward without a hitch since the transition.....Our 2005 Bash was the best ever, and hopefully 2006 will top that.......So, therefore i most certainly need to thank Wilheim and Marty for having faith in me, retaining me, and letting me keep doing what i love doing....Thanks Guys.....
Now to thank some of the guys outside of the RX that have been a great help to me, and i consider friends.......
Will (When he was at Hollywood)
BJ at Hollywood
Justin ( when he was at BHB)
Mike (when he was at Vwager)
Mike from Skybook
David from Skybook
Bob from Skybook
Dave at Wagerweb
Jake at Sportbet
Lenny at Cascade
Kevin, Tim, and Richard at Royal (yes Royal, these guys were always fair with us mods, and helped when we asked, they were also very generous in contests during their time here.....They were always good when i needed them)
Mike at Betrojan
Karol at Olympic
Rich at Heritage
I know i will miss some, but it certainly isnt intentional....All of these people have helped me over the years, with contests, customer questions, etc, and i thank them for their accessibility, and their patience, and most of all their generosity to our posters......
Now to the people who i have battle with over the years....
It all started with Trying2Win (The "keen" of basez")....When i first started posting, i thought there was no person more irritating than this guy, little did i know later down the road i would find there was others, he was just small potatoes.........We had an ongoing battle for months, until he challenged me to a capping contest in bases, and the rest was history....
Others have come and gone, many whom i hold NO GRUDGE towards now, like Dogball, Patrick McIrish, Tang, Kodiak, Co-Captian, PRJ and some others....
There are some that i could never again have any respect for simply for the fact that they base their whole existance on hatred, lies, and bashing.....posters such as JJ, DellDude, JimFeistSux, Raiders72001 and a few others...They appeal to some, and thats great, i just have no desire for anything they have to say...If u will lie, just for the sake of lying, then u dont get my respect.....Enough about that
I have never claimed to be anything that i am not on here, and among some, i guess that is a rarity....But for the posters that know me in person, they know i am genuine....i speak of people like General, Ken, Wil, Fishhead, Dante, Kermit, TheFawv, IndianaMike, IndySports, Ego74, and many more....I'm just a normal guy who enjoys sports, the conversation, and the commoroderie of the forum.......I can say now, that on more than one occassion, i have been offered opportunities to leave here, and try to succeed elsewhere, and to be honest, i was tempted at times....However when it came down to it, i was asked to do things 'against my principles" and i REFUSED to do it....If a man doesnt have his word/honor, he doenst have anything......And if i have ever been anything on this forum, it is honest/upstanding, and a man of my word........Many times, i believe that is why i have rubbed some people the wrong way...I have never been told what to say, when to say, or who to say it to, nor would i wanna work where i was told to do that......I have never ghosted under another name, i have always been Bucsfan67 at any site i have been at, and it will always be that way....So when i see people saying the opposite, i almost laugh, cuz only i know the truth.....When u know Bucsfan67 you know me.....
Anyway, i just wanted a chance to thank everyone that has meant something to me over the years here at the RX, and hope that i make it to 30,000 posts before too long........I love our community, i consider many of you friends, and respect the opinions, insight and humor that you inject into this site on a daily basis......
I am always here if u need me, and as long as Wil, Marty and the rest of the crew will have me, i will be here doing my thing...I will continue to try and bring new and fun contests to the posters, try and provide handicapping insight where i can, and inject humor when i feel its warranted.......
To everyone that has helped me along the way, I
THANK YOU:toast:
*** I gotta edit here to add a few names of people i think may have felt left out, as they are people i have not met in person, but have been very good friends to me here on the net, and on the site.....mainly speaking of Journeyman, GMoney, Slim, and Blue Edwards......they have all been a great help to me anytime i needed help grading, with rules, moderating, etc, and although i have not met them in person, i do consider them to be good friends..........also posters like Hacheman, SportsSavant, SkinsRaj, TTinCO and many others that i talk to on a regular basis....thanks for the laughs, and the insight on sports......there are many others, too many to list, but they know who they are, and that i think highly of them.....
Thanks guys....
I gotta say, though, in honor of the first head mod that DIDNT want me here, this post sure reeks of Patrick McIrish.......And i say that with a smile on my face....:missingte
