As millions of people raced to finish holiday shopping, I was reminded that rushing around is a way of life for many gamblers. It is yet another aspect of living a life on the edge. It is also what makes living as a pro sports gambler a far different proposition than just being able to pick winners or play poker well.

By the way the article is written I could see a novice interpreting "pro" gambler are irresponsible, and unorganized. I've done some form of advantage gambling for more than 2 years, and I can tell you, I am nothing like "Robby".

Many professional poker players exhibit these careless traits. Many of them cause leaks in their bankrolls.
Most sports gamblers are much more meticulous and analytically oriented.

90% of them a degenerates barely getting by with nothing to show for it - I'd like to see how many of these people are truly living fat other than thetop Poker guys - in fact, I can't think of one mulitmilionare that made his money off betting alone - and please don't tell me BW - so if your dream is to make $50,000 a year gambling and your an excellent gambler go after it.

I do well over 50K a year, from sports alone.

But you comment is true, I would say more than 90%.

Article is much more representational of poker players than sports bettors. I plan everything months ahead of time, schedule by sports seasons and have immaculate credit. Only correlation I see is taking time off after a bad beat or bad run. Where poker players can get by on such haphazard habits, sports bettors lose value, bets and money if they try to work like this. My personalty just does not work playing poker, and poker players cannot do what I do. Much different set of skills and disclipline required. Retitle it Life of a pro poker player you happen to know.

Best Wishes...OF :howdy:

A number of years ago a fellow named Jack Schwerger wrote a book interviewing successful stock and future traders. Their level of displincine and organization is high and they kep t the kind of records that one would assume successful gamblers keep also. I find the article by wild bill difficult to believe for successful gamblers be they poker or sports betting. were nottalking about some 20 year old kid but people who have devoted there lives to it. without records and history and organization your a disaster waiting to happen. Sure your bills may get lost and your tie if you wear one may not match but im sure you can remember michigan coming from 35 down lst year to beat Minn. Sign of a successful gambler. happy new year heart222

This may have been true a few years ago for most pro poker players but with the dawn of internet poker it is a lot easier to keep up on your other duties. Not everybody that plays poker for a living travels to casinos. It is easier for me to do my errands while I play poker for 30 hours a week at home than it is for the businessman working 50 at the office. God bless the internet :toast:
