they were one 3 point loss from a perfect season and a perfect kicker missing the clinching FG from a Super Bowl showdown vs Denver, gentleman I present to you, the team no one remembers, the 1998 Minnesota Vikings.

They should've won that game against Atlanta, too...if I remember correctly, Gary Anderson went PERFECT during the regular season on FGs, but missed the game-winner at the end of regulation from 38. That team was DOMINANT.

Anderson's miss would have sealed the game so to speak, would have left the Vikings with a 10 point lead very late in the game, instead ATL got the ball back and tied it, then won in OT.

Atlanta was also very good at 14-2 but the Vikings were the team most were hoping would get to the Super Bowl, in what would have been a great wide open style match up vs Denver.

One of the best conference championship games in recent history. Minnesota even got the ball first in OT and couldn't score. I do think Denver would have beaten them but they were a great team.

That team WAS AWESOME, they lost their 2 games by a combined 6 points which has to be as good or better than any other 15-1 team.

The superbowl that should have been, Denver vs Minnesota! Man how I would have loved to have seen it!!

how about the 69 colts. I consider them the best nfl team ever. there is a reason they were 19 point fav in the super bowl. I recently heard a coach say it took the entire next year to recover from that loss. The colts then came back to win the super bowl in 71 with an inferior team.

The 69 Colts will never be forgotten though...

The 1971 Colts didn't seem to be any where near as good as the team that lost to Namath's Jets....that Super Bowl III is one of the great mystery's of sports....a lot was never explained about why things happened the way they did, Colts DE Bubba Smith always said the game was fixed.

The 1969 sports season was especially tough on Baltimore. Losing to te Jets and the Orioles losing to the amazing Mets, both Baltimore teams heavy favorites.....and just for good measure, the Baltimore Bullets were ousted by the Knicks.

i never heard that the game was fixed, makes one think though. The highlites today dont seem to make sense, ie how were the jets able to win? Jets didnt seem to be playing great inspired football more like the colts werent interested. this after destroying most opponents during the season. I believe the colts set the record for points allowed in a season.

91 redskins dont get mentioned enough as one of the greatest ever.

The greatest I've seen are 85 bears, 84 49ers and 91 skins, take your pick among those 3.

49érs the year Roger Craig fumbled away their game vs the Giants: they woulda decimated Buf & the game woulda gone over: killed my lock parlay of the year. & Parcells likely woulda never attained such lofty status..as well the Giants may have never subsequently become that good of a team....things woulda been very different if it weren't for one single play...

Pancho: I think you are forgetting about the great Lombardi Packer teams -

Wood / Taylor / Davis / Gregg / Nitschke / Starr / Horning / Adderly are all in the Hall of Fame
