In general Canadian announcers aren't as "homerish" as American announcers while calling a game.

Just the tradition of the old Hockey Night in Canada braodcasters Foster Hewitt and Danny Gallivan. For example while each liked a certian team both understood it was a national broadcast so they tired to play it right down the middle most of the times. Since those two are considered the cornerstone of Canadian broadcasting there influences still effect the way a hockey game is called today.

Joe Bowen the Leafs TV play by play game however isn't an example of this since he is a hugh leaf homer.

I can remember the Sens-Leafs series and the CBC announcers (who are Leafs TV guys) didn't even take the time to learn the Sens' players name. One of them didn't know the difference between Tomi Salo and Sami Salo.

Then its the first intermission and a true blue Leafs fan (Don Cherry) takes everyone into his corner for some idiotic, homerish comments.

There isn't a bigger homer in the world than Don Cherry - name me one person in the US on the national stage that says the things he says and gets away with it.

Bob Cole is old you gotta forgive him. His best days were along time ago. Don Cherry isn't a play by play guy he is a hockey commenter who gives his opinion during the intermission so I don't count him. Just the guys in the booth. Nothing is 100% just in general I see less Rah-Rah in Canadian play by play guys when compared to American conterparts.

Not a Leaf fan so I can't tell you, However If you can cheer for Carolina to win since I can't watch close games I'll leave the game on TV and cheer for the leafs for you.

Why would you go against a team that is 9-1 in their last 10 games and has Biron in net tonight?

On the other hand, you have an old guy who took 57 games to win the one that he needed.

... and the kicker is that you aren't even getting + money

you better hope this doesn't go to the shoot out cause aside from Wellwood the Leafs suck in the shoot out.
