I hope not. Watching him this year it's obvious he has at least one more 28+ INT Season and 70 QB rating left in his arm.

Who cares? He has been so bad for so long now - it's at least 5 seasons of horrible play now.

His play the second half of this season, has made it a lot easier to walk, if he decides to.

I think his thumb injury has a lot to do with it..

Favre seems lost, and unsure what he will do with himself without football....I don't really see him going to the announcer/studio though.

Seymour, you don't even know what your talking about. This year has not been a good year for the packers or Brett Favre, but the last 3 years, I believe that the packers won their division, so Brett Favre must have done something right, correct me if i am wrong.

Bill Smmons over at ESPN calls Favre the "white Aaron Brooks".

Simmons gets some great lines.

In his article on the history of MNF, Simmons writes "O.J. Simpson was as good an announcer as he was an ex-husband."

Simmons has been really funny lately. His articles might be archived over at ESPN.com. If so, check out the articles on parity in the NFL, Johnny Damon leaving Boston and Roger Clemens rumoured return to Boston.

I kinda relate this to the Jo Pa situation at Penn St. Last year everyone was calling for him to resign in disgrace so to speak. Well, He showed us all and perhaps Farve might want to do the same thing. He will not be able to do this at GB however as they are way too far away from being a decent team JMHO

In that division, it wouldn't take much to turn it around. Only game Packers haven't been in in the fourth quarter was the Ravens MNF a couple of weeks ago. With Javon Walker back healthy you would have a Walker-Driver-Ferguson/Chatman combo to throw to. Ahman Green only will be back if he accepts a greatly reduced contract, but Gado and Davenport could be threats if the line improves. Probably a top 5 draft choice and plenty of cap money available. Defense made strides this year, but still need some help, especially at LB (AJ Hawk?). Green Bay would be better off next year with Favre there, with Rodgers getting some PT.
That said, Favre won't be there. Sunday is his finale.

The way he talked Thursday, have to believe it's about 50-50. He opened the door for the Packers to make changes, yet with the team's injury problems this year, I think he believes Green Bay can contend next season. Remember, the N.F.C. isn't loaded, so the Pack could certainly make noise next season.

Physically he is still a gifted QB in this league. His arm is still the best and he can move around the pocket just fine. 2 problems he has.One he needs more talent because at this time he forces passes that aren't their, mostly because he has no choice. no running game, offensive line, or seperation with receivers. Two, Sherman is a horrible coach. When Favre makes these bad throws and your coach doesn't do anything or get in his face, how is anything going to change. Holmgren would never let him get away with that.As popular as Marino was in miami, when he was slinging it all over the Field jimmy Johnson got in his face. wasn't popular but he did it. Favres worst enemy is Sherman

Here's a clip from the Simmons article, the Q and A section.

Q: I can't believe I heard this, but Paul Maguire said on Sunday night that he can think of ONLY one QB you don't want to give the ball back to in a tie game with 2 minutes left -- Brett Favre!!!! Has he heard of Tom Brady? Hasn't Favre thrown about 75 game killing INTs in the past few years? With this in mind, what are the five worst announcer comments this year?
-- Tom B., Duxbury, Mass.

SG: Not only did I hear the same comment, I remember thinking to myself, "Does he mean that you don't want to give Favre the ball in a tie game if you're a Packers fan?" Unbelievable. With the way broadcasters treat Favre these days -- and it's not just the Sunday night guys, it's everyone -- we may have to change the phrase "treating him with kid gloves" to "the Favre Treatment." For years now, Favre has basically been the white Aaron Brooks -- does all the same dumb things, makes the same dumb throws, snatches defeat from victory the same number of times, but puts up surprisingly good stats year after year. Only everyone piles on Brooks and makes excuses for Favre. Hmmmmm. I'd say more here, but I'm violating Scoop Jackson's Page 2 territorial rights.

By the way, in my "Top Gun/NFL" preview before the 2003 season, I gave Favre the quote, "Wait a second … you were in a 4G inverted dive with a MIG-28?" with the following explanation: To Brett Favre, firmly entrenched in the "Marino in the mid-'90s" stage of his career. In other words, he's just great enough to win some games on his own, not quite as great as he used to be, and unable to accept the fact that he isn't quite as great as he used to be. So he forces balls in big spots, tries to do too much, and invariably ends up killing the Packers against good teams. And it has been happening for three seasons now. And counting. Now we're wrapping up Year 6. And counting. I find this interesting.

Come on Man he has the worst talent in the league this year. You put Brady, and I like Brady, on the Packers, you would be getting the same results. I also agree that I would have favre as my QB in last 2 minutes, " with everything equel " talent, Brady as good as he is doesn't have the 4th qtr comebacks like Favre and Elway, because he has been on superior teams over the years and his team is hardly ever behind late in games. So we don't know how good he would be under same circumstances. its alot easier in this league to be QB if you have outstanding coaching, defense and running game. Green Bay has none of those

After the last couple of games, I bet he dreams of retirement on a warm sunny beach drinking cocktails with little umbrellas. No way he comes back next year as a player.
