I haven't heard anything lately, but this LONG TERM stiff book got bounced to I believe Ireland a few months ago.

We can only hope they did, and I can only hope that you had a very small amount of money there.....they aren't known for paying people.

I'll ask around & see what I can find out

Same here...Offshore gambling was such a novelty that I was even willing to cough up the $79 "membership fee" or whatever it was they called it. Ahh, the feeling of seeing that FedEx truck pull up for the very first time, realizing I was actually being paid. Luckily I didn't buy into their "stick with telebet, and don't go the internet route, as THAT is illegal" BS. Opted for Betmaker.com around 1997, then the list continued (and continues) to grow.

One more guy who started out at ESB. I remember huddling by the fax machine at work waiting for their "fax back" parlay cards. I also coughed up the "membership fee". I did win 3 of the 4 "Bonus Plays" that came along with that and, according the surprise phone call I got during Super Bowl week, was one of 60-something people that was in their something thousand dollar Super Bowl contest (that I did not win). Hard to believe they made it this far.

At the very beginning of the summer ESB was kicked out of their premises in Ballinasloe, Ireland.

They tried to re open in Jamaica, from where they operated for a couple of weeks writing hand tickets.

At the end of August they re opened at an unknown location in Ireland. They dropped their original name, EnglishSportsBetting, and tried to revamp their brand under their URL, telebet.

At the beginning their new general manager "Tom" promised ESB's players that he would have taken care of them. However he required them to rollover their balances 5 times and no cashout would have been processed prior to October 3rd 2005.

Needless to say none of the 19 ESB players that I've been in touch with and opted for the rollover ever cashed out.

Once the rollover was completed they began getting the usual runaround ESB had already accustomed them to.

The latest info on these "fine gentlemen", as reported by two players last week, is that "Tom" told both individuals separately that they had to close telebet due to the "smear campaign" put up by north american watchdog sites against them.

The really bad news is that "Tom" told both bettors they would soon re open for business under a brand new, non smeared URL and brand.

We are monitoring what is going on and especially trying to spot which will be these guys' new URL to renew warning players.

FWIW....out of the 46 complained received by ESB's victims between April 2004 and today I know of only 1 very lucky player who managed to get paid. The remaining 45 have given up hope.

this Tom guy was the same Tom guy who sued the RX (Actually Ken) for blasting them on this forum, then the RX had to be down for I think a couple weeks. This was years ago. he was a general manager at ESB at the time when ESB was in Jamacia.

I think its Tom Langland or Tom Laufland I might be wrong. Tom L.

the story was when the ireland thing happend this summer but then he took over, he had been away from ESB for years, was going to change the format, the approach, etc etc.

he kept some of the same clerks (he made James a clerk!) and James had to be polite on the phone and everything. He still defended Dennis Atitah? as being in a tough spot with legal fees and blah blah blah.

He talked about doing this for some time than getting everyone up on a software on line system (which he said is not very expensive) and grow the business that way. ESB was never an on line shop always call in or FAX in.

he kept the same telebet name as that had some positive memory for them but dumped the ESB. kept the same phone numbers (or most of them).
I noticed about 1 week ago they did not pick up the phones but the phones still rang.

Made my first wager at ESB...................laid $1000 on silver charm in the 1997 derby at 7 to 1. Took the payout, and never played there again.

that is Dennis? Tom somach?
This was a different name. Tom Somach was the guy at the LVSN watchdog sports newspaper. I would have remembered that name. I emailed him many times.

Tom Lamford is/was the new "main man" at telebet.

He firmly denied the involvement of Dennis Atiyeh. However their new web site had been made by Atiyeh's software company...go figure :pucking:

Right, Somach was the writer for their phony rag. I thought you were implying that he took over operations under a phony name.
