This will make for fun and interesting reading. I'll put together a more extensive list after I wake up, but just to throw a new twist to it...
Best at the High School level------
Football - Maurice Clarett. Covered hs football for 25 years in northeast ohio, so it goes without saying I've seen some of the best hs football the nation has to offer. NO ONE dominated a game the way Maurice did. Truly sad what has become of him, but also sad to say I'm not one bit surprised.
Basketball -- Again, I live in NE Ohio and have covered many Akron St. Vincent games when LeBron played for the Irish. Enough said.

Before Barry Sanders signed with the Lions,he came out to the Bay Area and stayed with me me and a buddy for a week.My friend was from Okkie State and new him from there. He was being hounded by the media and just wanted to be left alone.Remember back then he was one of the first juniors to come out to the NFL.The NFL wanted you to play your senior season.Anyway when he came over he was very nicely dressed and very polite, but what I couldnt believe was how SMALL he was.I said to myself NO F-ing way this guy makes it in the NFL.Well one morning we went out to breakfeast and he had shorts on.He had the absolute largest most powerfull looking thighs I will ever see.Later we went out to dinner and wanted to impress him so I'm drinking absolute sodas, purple hooters, and chasing chicks like its the last night out.Barry meantime stuck with his water, and chicken fried steak for dinner. He did not look or talk to any girl.He made sure to call his parents at night and prayed before he went to sleep.I at the same time was puking and swore I'd never drink again.A few days later he got the call from his agent that he wanted him to come back and read his contract. He signed and we were able to watch one of the greatest players of all time.

I once heard that Bo Jackson was the fastest ever to be clocked running all the way around the bases (home to home).......I thought it was 12 seconds flat, but there's just no way. That would be a 4.0-forty pace, including the turns......impossible!

Out of curiosity, does anyone remember hearing what his time was? Maybe it was 16 flat?!

Nice story Greenhead.

I will neer understand how anyone can knock Sanders, the old "well he lost yards on a lot of his attemps" thats BS...If he played on a great team like SF or Dallas at that time his legend would have been even greater....

I never saw a greater player, some in his company but none greater....He did things O.J. Simpson did but in a much more difficult era....no slow defensive backs in Sanders era.
