SLAGO BAPTIST CHURCH

Last night whent what was thought to be good news about the 12 miners found alive. There was obviously so much jubilee about the news that the majority were celebrating.

Well the Pastor of the Church was looking at the one lone family of the first man found dead much earlier in the evening, and he asked the many standing around and celebrating to come and prey with this family in mourning!!!

And only a few did.........

and now those individuals who were praising God and happy for the fortune of their families supposedly alive, this morning said the following

When the Pastor said recently in response to the official news of 11 dead and one survivor

Look to God for help and support

And now one of the former rejoicers YELLED OUT!!!

What in the HELL should I follow him for?? What has HE DONE FOR ME!!!

Man what a haunt!!! I do believe in God, and I tell you I just gained a message from that story!!! Only 3 people left rejoicing to console the known family at the church of the 1 confirmed dead miner,

And then they come to find they walk now in the same shoes!!!

get ready for a movie on this one!!!

That is a MESSAGE!!!!

So "God" killed, or let die, the other miners because they're families wouldn't console the other grieving family?

I did not say that at ALL.

The lesson, I gained was very Old Testament like, and kind of Twilight Zone like as well.

The ones in JOY forgot the ONE that needed help in mourning, but found few to rush to their side, but in a few hours found themselves right in the same place as the one family that was alone. And instead of just one dead, there was JUST ONE SURVIVOR!!!!

It is a LESSON........and I will leave the Lesson of interpretation up to each individual. I got the Lesson!!!

I guess what I am saying in my 39 years of life, I have heard so many lesson stories from the BIBLE that are over 4000 years old, and this is the first time, I can actually see a modern day story that matches the stories of the old testament.

Wolf Blitzer just asked his members on CNN's situation room, have you every reported a story like this in your life time, and they said no, other than wrongly declaring the Truman victory.

This is a unique story!!!

When they announced that they were dead, total mayhem broke out in the church. I guess one family member attacked a mining company official, another fight broke out, and they called in the state police & swat team.

Ugly.....but I certainly understand how people may have snapped at that point.

What a roller coster of emotion you can't get any higher and lower in a couple hours...Newport I heard that story earlier and that is an interesting point, sort of a Twilight Zone like moment, or maybe more.

As far as I know they have yet to realize where the news came from to begin with.

I agree it was a little insensitive for some of the families to be celebrating when they thought 12 had lived, when one had died. It's impossible to put yourselves in ther shoes but I like to think I would have been much more reserved with my emotions knowing a man had passed away.

On CNN, I must have hear 10 times from people being interviewed how West Virginians 'stick together'. Hmmm.

Not everybody in this world is of a Christian beleif... If they didn't want to prey, thats their right...

Did you ever think that maybe most of the people didn't hear pastor, or were just overwhealmed with joy? I'm sure most would have bowed their heads with some respect for the dead "if" they all heard..

What I'd like to know is the name of the person who manipulated what was reported from the mine; that person should be hung by their balls...

People were overhearing one side of cell phone conversations of others & it snowballed. How it got that out of control is beyond me.

One of the things that passed through my mind last night was wondering what the lone survivor must be going through. They say that survivor's guilt can be worse than grief sometimes.

I found it exceptional to hear that the family of the first man found dead stayed around to celebrate and offer their best to the families of what were thought to be survivors. That they didn't receive any kind of 'survivor's guilt' support in kind says a lot about the folks in that church.

While you can't expect them to have stopped rejoicing completely, a kind word, a hug, or anything to demonstrate the unfairness of it all would have seemed the right thing to do.

agree. how many times have we heard stories from a war front where some guy was in a bunker with "X" other people - he left for "X" amount of time for whatever reason and when he got back he found all of his bunkermates dead. that guy is usually a basket case. we don't know what this lone miner's situation is. you read he could have some brain damage or more meaning if he survives he might not have the best of lives and live life like a 5-year-old all the time - which would put him right in line with most WV residents

we know this guy will get a TON of interview requests (probably has already) and when he speaks it will be MUST SEE TV! we also know this will have at least a movie and book written on it - maybe with his cooperation - maybe not

the ones in PA got about $150k EACH which is many year's salaries for these guys. i hope whatever money he gets he shares with the families of the other 12 although we know they will all sue anyway and get some sort of "payment"

seeing some of them i can think of a few good uses for that money like Dental Work and a Gym Memberhsip (go ahead - flame away for this remark - it is true - but.....)

This is what to the CHRISTIAN....makes it story of continued belief!!! I am serious, I am a big doubter on the some stories from the bible but this one, is so close to an old test lesson, that it shook me.....like the bourbaon can gingers tongiht....llol

OK, but you know what......this is where we are in todays world....no one cares about the fellow man...I mean we DO......but we DON'T of it gets oin the way of our own desired path!!!

Newport, with all due respect to your beliefs, what you are applauding as Christian values in my post were written by a total atheist. Being good to people around you, especially in these kind of situations, is about being a good person and showing some compassion. Religion doesn't necessarily have anything to do with it.

The only thing christian about this story is that everyone in the mine was a christian.

No Jew would ever work in a coal mine.

Especially not me.. LOL

ANY HUMAN BEING WOULD HAVE FELT GRIEF FOR THE FAMILIES.

Also pretty fucked up how selfish these people were. Only caring about themselves and not the one that died.

Turns out they were lied to. Karma is a bitch.

I am not exactly sure about this, but I think it is true to say that something between 10 and 20 Chinese miners die every DAY on average.

Personally I can't get that excited about 11 West Virginians.

that is true.. it human nature to praise god in good times and curse him in bad....but those people went threw hell so maybe they get a free pass on it

but to go from god loving to god hating means you do not have the whole religion thing in you anyway IMO..it was just an act

good to know

if I am in a situation where I am alive and my buddy is dead...

I sure hope my family supports my dead buddies family...

because if not...

God will kill me to teach them a lesson.
