I have no opinion on New Yorker's, considering I've never lived or visited there, but as far as Rocker's interview goes, I'm familiar with the media, having been in broadcasting for over 20 years. For the most part, it seems large market media are looking for a story and from what I heard about the actual interview, it was done while Rocker was driving in New York. The interviewer inticed Rocker, somewhat. Yes, Rocker has his views, right or wrong, but the interviewer is part of the story, that is very rarely talked about. Like has been said in this thread, many may share his views, but would not say them publicly. I doubt Rocker believed his comments would dominate the story. But controversey sells magazines and that's what they got.
