Haven't gotten one yet, been pretty damned fortunate. How fortunate, you ask?
On New Year's Eve when I was 17, I was at a friend's party(parents didn't know I was there, of course). I got wasted beyond comprehension before midnight. By 1 I was barely standing. Then my parents call my cell phone and proceed to tell me that they know I'm not where I'm supposed to be. They ask if I'm drunk(I tell them I'm not, naturally, even though I'm slurring badly), so they tell me to get my ass home ASAP. Now, I live in Northern VA, a minute or so from the Maryland border. The party was also in Northern VA, but south of my house, just 10 minutes away. Anyway, I stumble to my car(yelling at the people who are trying to tell me not to drive), and climb in to head home.
I then proceed to drive home...it takes me TWO HOURS to get home. Not exaggerating. Best part: I remember being in the car for about a MINUTE, and all I remember is being lost somewhere in Maryland, driving past my exit, swerving really bad one time on the Beltway and thinking to myself, "I gotta stop swerving," then swerving back into the original lane, and finally, pulling up to my house.
All this while I was underage driving drunk on the worst night of the year to do so. How I didn't hit a sobriety checkpoint or die is beyond me. It was a miracle.
Needless to say, I still drive drunk on a regular basis. Obviously I've learned from my mistakes. I'm overdue on getting one, and probably will sometime soon just for posting this. Yay.
