pocket that DUI's don't exist? I know plenty of people that have gotten pulled over blitzed in Mexico and CR, and never got one after they paid off the cops. I wonder if that still applies?:drink: :drink: :monsters-

Was a young punk in Mexico with a playa. We got pulled over and threatened to go to jail. Playa said could we pay a fine? Cop said See be about $100 we paid and scampered off.

I get pulled over all the time blasted here in Costa Rica and I do not have a license or my wallet on me sometimes and all you have to do is "Pay the fine on the spot". I usually just put a 5,000 colone bill ($10) with the paperwork on the car and give it to the officer and I have not had a problem yet. I know I am going to get some gung ho officer right out of traffic school and he is going to confiscate my car one day, but that is the max they can do down here unless you hit an kill someone then you are going down big time.....

Its like the wild west down here still.........:toast:

99% of the time you will get away with bribing the police down here in CR. I remember 2 years ago a good friend of mine didn't pay his yearly tax on his car and got pulled over. He didn't have any money on him so the police followed him to his bank and waited outside until he took out the 10,000 colones. It was 10,000 because there were 2 of them...lol

I know its going to happen to me one day. I keep promising myself that I am going to renew my license, but the lines are the shit and what a waste of money. I have so many speeding tickets accumulated ove the years I do not even want to know how much I owe the CR MOPT with interest and everything. My license was lost along with my wallet at the beach and I never got another one after that and that was 6 years ago. I have been living on the beach and driving back and forth from San Jose to the beach I get pulled over all the time trying to make it to work on time. I have been lucky so far, but I can see me getting pulled over by the big guy one day and you are going to see"Gringo tries to bribe director of Transit and ends up in Jail" :lolBIG:

that's funny as the amount of the ticket is just about 10k (now its 13k but two years ago it was probably just around or may be even less that amount)

Irishman, I KNOW for a fact that after two or five years or something the fines EXPIRE, you have to do some paperwork ........but it can be done (of course I consider it a waste of time so I would just pay unless the amount of money its ridiculous
