College hoops version of 'favorite home-coming game opponent', the Eagles started today at 0-12 and whipped Bethune-Cookman 75-65. Next week, they will play their FIRST HOME game of the year. Ask teams like Pitt, who didn't leave home for almost the first 2 months of their season about that schedule.

BTW, Pitt walloped Coppin back in December while the Eagles were in the middle of this brutal stretch:

12/10 at (8) Oklahoma L 47-57
12/18 at (9) Illinois L 42-61

You have got to give these guys credit for hanging in there through those beatings, besides that stretch they had back to back 1 point losses in a season opening tournament in Wyoming. (Coppin is in Baltimore)

They just got an automatic bid with a 15-20 record, and probably a record for worst points differential of a conference champ

Every year they go on the road and get slaughtered in non-conference games, this year no different, but they ended the year winning 16 of 17. Here's how they did outside the MEAC this year:

They don't have 20 losses, but the 10th-place Illini could go dancin' tomorrow. Has to be some very nervous teams out there. Georgia too could make it.

About why they have such a tough schedule, I read an article (I think in ESPN magazine) that whoever decides for the team is willing to play such tough teams because of the $ it returns.
