How will Palmer perform today vs. a tough PITT defense?

Pesonally, think he will put up good numbers, but will have at least THREE interceptions/fumbles.

Having said that, GO BENGALS!!

I tend to agree with you Fishhead...but not with Palmer. He's way more mature than Manning and Simms. I think he's going to be special for a long time...he also has a better arm than either of the other two.

I heard a stat that qb's making their first playoff start have a wining record since 1990. Not looking good for the first time starters this year though!

Oh, and I forget the exact stat, but I heard today that I think 10 times in NFL playoff history, a home team has been the underdog. 8 times, the dog won straight up.

Was yesterday Leftwhich's first playoff start?

If so first time playoff starting QBs are headed for 0-3 SU and ATS.

Qbs making their first playoff start are 0-3 so far (Palmer pending). Good thing Big Ben doesn't have much more experience. Something to watch next week with Grossman and the Bears. Grossman has one start and a half this year. With revenge for Carolina, I LOVE the under.

Agree with the general idea of staying off qb's with no playoff experience. But it should be tempered with one other fact: is that team with the green qb playing a team with a solid defense?

Palmer may be more mature than Simms and Manning (been a starter longer), but the Steelers rank No 3 in total defense

The Bengals lack of experience is what concerns me...Palmer is too far along, he will have a typical game against Pitts weak defense.

Agree, but they will have to score first to slow down the Pitt running game and force Big Ben into obvious passing situations.

Would not say WEAK......but agree with you on the former.

Did you wager on the TIGERS?

I think Cinncy can win if Palmer has too carry the team. I don't think Big Ben can carry the Steelers. That's not a real knock on Big Ben, it's the fact the Steelers are so dependent on the run. And that not only affects the so-called skilled players, but the offensive linemen. The Steelers linemen are run blockers first and pass blockers second. If the game turns into a shootout, I think it favors the Bengels.

Note all three games so far regarding inexperience of quarterbacks in playoffs:

Simms
Leftwich
Manning

0-3

Dont compare manning to simms and leftwich. Manning is clueless. Aside from one or 2 late game drives and the occasional bomb to burress he hasnt even been mediocore this year. Leftwich is far better and simms in limited action has been far more efficient.

If manning doesnt really improve next year (at age 26) the comparisons to harrington and mirer will start.

Baby Gump looked like a complete chump today.

What an embarrassment-at home nonetheless.
