I know thier are a TON of Hawkeye lovers on this board, just wondering what your guys take is on Kirk Ferentz possibily heading to the NFL. My Detroit Lions have shown some interest in him(among others). I read the Bill Bellechick book and he spoke very highly of him. Does he run more of a smash mouth style of offense or is it more wide open? I know he was a former o-line coach, is he a hard nosed disciplanarian? Just wondering if you guys think that he could turn around a lowly franchise such as the Lions.

He's way too smart to get into that mess. Until Matt Millen goes, who would be dumb enough to get involved with Lions.

Ferentz quite possibly may be the very best offensive line coach in ALL of football.

Personally however, don't think he would make a good NFL head coach.........he is AVERAGE at best as far as game situations and clock management are concerned and in the NFL that would be exposed to even a further degree.

He's an outstanding recruiter and would not have that advantage in the pros. I think he's better suited to the college game.

His name always comes up with coaching vacancies in the N.F.L. Hope he stays at Iowa. Does have the experience with the Ravens and would probably be a logical choice to move up to the N.F.L. coaching ranks, but like I said, hope he stays with the Hawks.
