50 years ago probably the KY derby followed by the World Series.

20 years ago the Superbowl

now I'd say its the NCAA basketball tourney is giving the SB a good run for its money.

What does the future hold? and what is the biggest gambling event around today??

As far as I am cocerned I find better NBA games to bet on a random Monday night than the SB. As far as Vegas is concerned I bet they love the month of March.

LOL, Soccer World & Europeans finals, CL Final, Gold Cup, UEFA cup final, Every one of the 4 Grand Slams finals, some cricket matches......that's it. Some day, you'd realize that the USA gambling is only a small part. The whole world gambles. A tiny part of it bets on US sports.

MARCH MADNESS in Vegas is HUGE!!

Because it is spread over many days rather thans ONE like the SuperBowl, it would be considered larger.

One day events in Vegas....

1.SUPERBOWL

2.

KENTUCKY DERBY
BIG DANCE on any particular day

Again, you're so wrong, that it's painful, probably.

people IN THE US wager on the superbowl a 100 fold compared to any other US sporting event for 1 day.

That's about it.

This Someone trying to sell you land?

World Cup. Nascar probably doesn't do as much in one race as a normal NFL football game.

Worldwide, I am guessing the World Cup. Sometimes we Americans think the rest of the world revolves around us, but soccer is the international game.

Every year Super Bowl attracts the largest television audience of any sporting event in the world.

I won't even comment on this. Anybody who believes this has serious problems. The difference between the SB and a WC final is in the hundreds of milllions and I"d think that SB would struggle to make top 10 of most watched events as well.

Bookmakers Release Huge Menu Of Super Bowl Betting Props

The championship game of American Football–the Super Bowl–takes place next Sunday and there’s no shortage of ways to bet the game. The San Francisco 49ers and Baltimore Ravens will meet in Super Bowl XLVII in New Orleans, Louisiana with the 49ers a -3′ point favorite and the total set at 48. For the serious NFL betting enthusiast, however, that’s only the tip of the iceberg when it comes to betting options on the event.

The annual Super Bowl is the largest single betting event in the United States and one of the biggest in the world–it’s second only to the Champions League final in worldwide betting handle
. Long ago bookmakers decided it was good business to go beyond the basic ‘side and total’ betting options and offer a myriad of proposition bets covering every aspect of the game including the halftime show, pregame show and TV ratings.

Think the Super Bowl is big? Las Vegas handles more than $200 million in legal bets during the tournament, more than twice what is wagered on the average football championship, according to The New York Times. This year, the peak pandemonium happens Thursday through March 22, with 63 Vegas casino sports books happy to host and separate the unlucky from their cash.

Superbowl is still the biggest single event, March madness takes in more over the whole tournament. I wonder what the hold will be in Vegas on the Pacman, Mayweather fight. I bet it will be close to the SuperBowl.
