Looking to get a portable DVD player for my kids for our upcoming trip. Anybody have one they would recommend? I am looking to spend $ 200 or less if possible. Is there a big difference in the 7" and 9" screens? Advice would be appreciated. Thanks

Mods - if this is in the wrong room please move it - I was not sure where the right room for this would be.

Got the best one Best buy had to offer back in june for a trip out east and back, when we were done with the trip, we took it back for a refund LOL

Cost nothing, but saved the day as the DVD kept the little guy in the back occupied for HOURS at a time.

I don't normally flame much, but shit like this is a pet peeve because it raises costs for all honest consumers. So here goes:

What a cheap bastard. You can afford a road trip to the east, but chose to rip off a store for $200? And if you go on another trip, I am guessing you will do it again? Pathetic.

Had no need to keep the thing, didn;t cost us OR the store a penny, they got their merch back undmanaged and surely resold it.

sadly this type of thing goes on all the time with all types of merchandise. admitting you do it with no remorse at all just makes it that much more unethical.

WRONG. I guess you have never worked in retailing. Once its out of the package, the store or manufacturer has to eat the cost and return it to be resold as a rehab. THE LOST PROFITS ON RETURNS LIKE THIS GET PASSED ON TO THE REST OF THE HONEST BUYERS IN THE FORM OF HIGHER MARGINS. Yeah, you might have fvcked us out of a hundred dollars or so, but take thousands of guys like you, and the rest of us are paying $20 more at the counter.

My portable DVD player is called a laptop computer. Costs significantly more than $200, is not suitable for young children, but has additional features.

Sort of my feelings on the subject also.

I thought about a laptop but its too much $$$$, plus I already have a home PC so it would not do me any good. I have been looking online at the portable dvd players and I can't see what the difference is between the $120 players and the $ 250 players except for screen size

Its worth it to pay the extra $50 or so for the 7 inch widescreen vs. the 5 inch screen. The view is all funny on a non-widescreen.

I got a good 7" toshiba player at best buy 2 weeks ago for $170, with a $30 rebate. Same thinking as you, the kid needs a steady dose of Thomas the Train so we can stay sane when on the road.

for a player only, i would go for the cheapest. i may pay a extra 20 or 30 bucks or so for a bigger screen but nowhere near double the price for it.

Santa got one for my girls (ages 7 and 6). 7 inch Phillips brand Wal-mart special for $150. It works great, and they have not complained once about the 7 inches not being big enough for them.....did I really just type that about my own daughters?

Just make sure it comes w/ car power jack.
