Elgin Baylor has told Maggette he isn't going to be traded...but dickhead Dunleavy is trying to do anything possible to trade both Maggette and Wilcox (as I said he would before the season started).

NBA Rumors: Friday, Jan. 13, 2006

TNT NBA reporter Cheryl Miller’s breaking report on a possible Ron Artest/Corey Maggette trade: “I was told by sources within the Clippers and Pacers organizations that a deal was on the table sending Ron Artest to the Clippers for Corey Maggette. I was told that Ron Artest had some very positive conversations with Mike Dunleavy and met with him yesterday. I was also told just two hours before the game started that the deal in fact is off the table only because Indiana’s doctors would not medically approve Corey Maggette.”" TNT television

"Early last month, the Clippers, 14-5 to start the season, harbored absolutely no intention of trading Maggette for Artest. Their first fishing expedition had Chris Wilcox's name on the hook, in addition to a No. 1 pick. Cuttino Mobley was the bait on their second foray." New York Post

"A couple days before Christmas, the Pacers made it clear it was either Maggette or lose our phone number; it's believed Indiana was angling to re-route Maggette to the Hawks for Al Harrington, a slight possibility that seemingly no longer exists." New York Post

"Contingent on the Pacers' doctors not being dissuaded by Corey Maggette's medical documents and Clippers' coach Mike Dunleavy not being discouraged by an Indiana-approved personal powwow with Ron Artest, the two swingmen, each presenting towering risks and soaring rewards, will swap uniforms shortly, sources reveal. Maggette, averaging 68.5 games in six previous seasons, has missed all but 13 this season (his last action was Dec. 5) due to injuries. Currently his left foot is in a cast and may need surgery. If not, the 6-6 hard-body whose specialty is attaining the free throw line of life 10 times per and converting nine, figures to be out of action for another five weeks." New York Post

"Elgin Baylor, Clippers vice president of basketball operations, denied Thursday that a trade sending forward Corey Maggette to the Indiana Pacers for disgruntled All-Star swingman Ron Artest was imminent. Baylor reassured the injured Maggette after Thursday's practice that there was no truth to the rumor he would be swapped for Artest." Orange County Register

"Nothing is happening there," said Baylor, when asked to substantiate what has turned into an on-again, off-again, on-again cycle involving the Clippers and the Pacers." Orange County Register

"TNT's Cheryl Miller reported the deal did not go through because the Pacers' medical staff couldn't clear Maggette. She also reported that Clippers coach Mike Dunleavy had met with Artest." Orange County Register

"Dunleavy acknowledged a few weeks ago that he had talked with Walsh about what it would take to acquire Artest." Orange County Register

"I know that this is a business," Maggette said. "I'm going to handle it professionally. Right now, nothing is happening. But if anything is happening, Dunleavy would be the guy for you to talk to. I love my fans here. I love L.A., and I love my teammates. Whatever's going to happen will happen. I just got some reassurance from Elgin that nothing's going to happen. But (Dunleavy) is the one with all the answers. He would know." Orange County Register

"Concerned about forward Corey Maggette's left foot injury, the Indiana Pacers on Thursday rejected a trade proposal that would have brought All-Star forward Ron Artest to the Clippers. Indiana ended its pursuit of Maggette, injured Dec. 5 against the Miami Heat, in part because he might require surgery to implant a screw in his foot and be sidelined the remainder of the season, NBA sources said." Los Angeles Times

"Indiana, in talks for weeks with the Clippers, also rejected a proposal for power forward Chris Wilcox that would not have included Maggette. Although eager to bolster a roster depleted by injuries, the Clippers apparently won't receive a boost from Artest." Los Angeles Times

"Moreover, there is growing concern in the Clipper organization that the team might fail to earn a Western Conference playoff berth. Since a 14-5 start, the Clippers are 4-9 and have struggled on defense. "We're not desperate," General Manager Elgin Baylor said. "You want to win, you hate to be losing games, but desperate? No, we've just got to put forth extra effort." Los Angeles Times
