Dierdorf rightly could hardly conceal his disbelief that the replay booth issued a false reversal of a legitimate Steeler interception.

The NFL wanted the Colts in their showcase game. The most visible player in the NFL, the high voltage offense (except today), and the heart-rending personal tragedy of the Indy head coach.

Dramatic storylines are something the NFl has long pursued. In fact, some five years ago Dungy, as coach of Tampa Bay, was on the receiving end of a corrupt call in a playoff game, so that a wonderful Rams storyline could play out.

Those interested in the topic can check a story I wrote around 5 years ago, "Is Football Officiating Corrupt?" I believe the evidence presented in that two-part article is incontrovertible.

This is still in the search archives of the RGT Online site. (I haven't not written for them in years, so I'm not advertising.) If inacessible, I own the copyright to it, and if Rx is interested in reprinting, just contact me.
