Guy named Sherman a month or so ago bid goodbye here 'cause he was hooked on gambling, needed to stop.

Maybe therapy and Gambler's Anon aren't necessary. According to a letter printed in the synicated column, People's Pharmacy, a problem gambler took turmeric capsules for arthritis, and found as an added benefit that the urge to toss money away in slot machines disappeared as if by magic.

Turmeric is a spice found in curry. It has anti-inflammatory agents. This tho is the first report that it may help in kicking the gambling habit.

I don't play slots and don't have arthritis, so I'll pass. Others may find it of interest.

I've decided to take it (it's a spice, not a drug) if my 18-1 preseason bet to win the SB, Carolina, gets clobbered on Sunday.

I'm hoping that their new lead rusher, true scatback Goings, will also take it, as he could use some anti-inflammatories after a quarter of getting smacked by Seahawk defenders.

But I got a chance, since the big man for Seatlle with the recently addled brainpan thinks he's in Miami, and believes that the goalpost crossbar is a giant hurdle that he must leap to win a gold medal.

Go turmeric!!
