kinda brave for a midget who has NEVER been to a sporting event in his life - or at least as a host - and who can talk tough but "turtles up" when pushed (see jim everett). the NEXT TIME he says something intelligent it will be the first time

Jim Rome is a self made stiff, shit talking punk. He is a Rush Limbaugh of sports. Morton Downey Jr. getting attacked by skinheads. The only reason these clowns have any shelf life is that they say the most outrageuos stuff they can get away with and lead flocks of depraved sheep with nothing else better to do than be led. Only good thing about these types is when they fall, they hit hard.

Best Wishes...OF :pucking:

Rome's show is alright until the callers take over. Listening to the callers try to one up each other and impress Rome is supremely annoying

Rome is a two-face.

He will have on a great interview with a guest, and he can get them to open up and really share personal feelings and insights, I like that part of his show.

But then he will just rail on people. There's nothing wrong with having a little fun at someone else's expense, but he is just mean....not just poking fun, but maliciously attacking their character and making fun of their mishaps (e.g., the Carl Lewis national anthem, Jeff Gordon saying "Chicago Stadium" instead of Wrigley Field, Ashley Simpson's SB halftime show, etc.).

I admit I find myself laughing at many of his put-downs, but he doesn't do it in a Jay Leno "laughing with them, not at them" way, Rome is just cruel and spiteful.

Awesome post summing up this chump's schtick. He stoops lower than most, so that is the niche he currently occupies. May his game be played on him someday.

I like Rome and his rants. Its different and refreshing for someone to call out some of these athletes who take themselves way too seriously.

C.S., I actually admire Rome for having the "onions" (as he would say) to call the people who deserve it on the carpet. Some of these guys have it coming, and he can really put them in their places. I personally don't feel like I should judge anyone else, certainly not on coast-to-coast radio, but I guess that's why he is Rome and I am me.

What I don't like is when he just makes fun of people to be mean. Someone has a microphone shoved in their face at an inopportune time and says something stupid or makes a mistake, and he will play it out of context and make fun of them for a year.

Just reminds me of the kid in high school who spends all of his time picking on the weak and making fun of everyone else to hide his own insecurities.

...and you know your life is heading in the wrong direction if you are calling Jim Rome's show in hopes of impressing him. Rome has a long way to go to be considered legit IMHO based on all the blather he spewed in previous years>>>

why so much hatred toward rome every time we have a thread with him? i watch his show, find it entertaining, sometimes agree sometimes disagree with his takes. i know about his history but he seems to be a decent stand up all around good family man to me. winkyduck states that rome has NEVER said anything intelligent, and it appears others agree. obviously that is just a prevaricate statement and i just dont get it.

If a personality in Sports doesn't want to be on his show he really will let them have it. example, Tiger, Mickelson, Coach K " kinda emberrasing that he is chilidish to keep pronuncing his name wrong " Parcells and on and on. Even though I kinda like Rome would love to see him step in some shit in his backyard sometime
