The premise of the new movie Glory Road is that a mild upset in the 1966 NCAA championship basketball game altered the course of history. Oddly, this watershed game was deemed too trivial to warrant primetime coverage in most markets. Even in New York, the telecast was tape-delayed, overlapping the midnight hour.

If given the choice, will see Munich instead. Talk about a groundbreaking event, I never even knew what terrorism was until that happened. Ironically this Glory Road groundbreaking or watershed event was really not at the time. Blacks were playing everywhere, in the title games, at most schools but the South. There is no Jackie Robinson magic first moment. The game was just another game to both sides, not the us against them battle of the races. I think all of the coaches, players and anyone involved felt, it was just a game where one team was white, the other was black. When Civil rights became an issue, front page, they dug up the game, a ressurrection of sorts. Looks like a netflix or Blockbuster rental to me. Same as Miracle. Glad I waited there.

the movie made mention of a tourny game against kansas that went into double ot and ended on a controversial call. bet that one would have brought up a lot of discussion this day and age, as well as the whole story.

I enjoy Mr. Lang's movie reviews. I think he should consider it as a second career and shouldn't just review sports movies.
