I finaly got around to watching Two For The Money last night. I noticed that one of the producers was named Jay Cohen. Is that Jay Cohen of WSEX fame or just a coincidence??

While he can speak for himself and doesn't need me to do so. He has said on this message board that it isn't him.

You do know people are trying to make it when the movie comes out in the theatre, it comes out in movie rental stores like Blockbuster etc....

I saw the movie on Tuesday and noticed the name Jay Cohen in the credits as well. I don't think it's the same Jay of the WSEX but he can speak for himself if he so chooses.

I thought the movie to be flatout unwatchable. I also deeply disliked it focusing on touts and not on gambling. As far as I'm concerend, the interesting people are those who BET, not those who SELL BETS and on that point, all it offered was a typical puritan BS. It was a big huge overblown cliche which left me still waiting for a serious sports gambling movie on the current state of the industry.

Likewise found it totally unwatchable. And obviously was as interested in the subject matter as everyone else here.

Rene Russo (think that was Pacino's wife) sure has grown up to resemble a drag queen. Pretty scary.

They do a film about scamdicappers, and get it all wrong.
The last thing scamdicappers are going to do is sell for a percentage of their customers' winnings.
Idiotic.
As if the scamdicapper knows how much the client is betting. And expects the customer to be honest. And expects to collect.

Five minutes of research would've revealed this to be false.
That was five minutes too much, I guess.

Worthless.

After watching the movie last night i was surprised that the Whole Entire movie was about the TOUT industry.

But the part that REALLY got me was when he wated a bigger piece of the pie and was talked to like a moron, Everything changed from that point. Maybe it was time for the streak to turn around anyway?

Everytime in my life that i have been on a big run of Anthing something Always happens that i notice later to change to Karma of whatever was going on and then things just go upside down for awhile..But that just me!

This was an excellent film, and Pacino is still the man. Period.

The film is accurate, they did ask for a % of winnings in the time period it was portraying.

It's not the same Jay C, the topic has been done 4 times already.

"This was an excellent film, and Pacino is still the man. Period."

You have extremely low standards, and are tasteless. Period.

" The film is accurate, they did ask for a % of winnings in the time period it was portraying."

This defies logic and common sense. They asked for a % of winnings?
How would they have any idea what the winnings were?
Why would they expect payment?

Verification? (Rhetorical question - I'm sure you have none).

Formula, I definatly don't have anything against you. We definatly had some threads on it before prior to when the film was released in theatres, maybe the search engine is bugged and I certainly don't expect you to scour the forum every day looking at everything.

I really don't know what people were expecting. What would you have done to make it better? Did you want to see a flim about a kid who was broke and made it huge playing the canadien lottery or something? To say it is one of the worst you have seen, pretty strong statement. I can rattle off 100+ movies that I have seen that are not as good.

I think despite the strong acting and original stroy everyone is hung up on the issue of touts. Well, I dont like them either. But telling it from the touts side, lets you see just how addicting and compulsive sports gambling can be and what it can do. It does a good job diving into the psyche of the problem gambler. And I think that is a great angle, very sharp. (spoken like a pro, huh? ;)

Not to step on any toes, but I think a lot of you are looking for something a little more candy. This is NOT a candy flick. You could be an every day gambler and you still might not get it.

If you don't know anything about Pacino and saying that being a fan of his work is low standards, why talk?

Rob, perhaps i didnt word my reply correctly. I wasnt trying to be a smartass or anything. I just hate when people ask the same questions over and over and im sure you mods tire of that too. I was just letting you know that i did do a search before i asked the question. Im sure i just missed it when i was searching, since im not very computer savy. Sorry for any misunderstanding.
