I have had 8 strait winning years in bases, but I am always looking for ways to improve my game.

I came up with an idea that I think may be worth looking into.

This season I am thinking about capping the NL League only. There are pros and cons to this.

Pros:
I can concentrate on one league, insteed of spreading myself out over two leagues. The theory is 1 hour a day of study in the NL only would be the eqivalent of 2 hours a day study if I cap both leagues.

Cons:

One of my great specialities is interleague play. This would greatly reduce my strenth in that area. As a matter of fact if I go this route I may be so far removed from the American League that I will not be able to cap interleague games at all.
I will also have less games on the board and will over the course of the season pass up on some great unknown American League games. But if I get even stronger on the NL perhaps it would offset any of these cons.

Does anyone think this is something I should consider, or is this a dumb idea. I have been flirting with trying this for a few years now.

Thoughts.

Choptalk, I know you're a big Braves fan and that's probably why you would pick the NL, but I would think if you have to pick one league to focus on it should be the AL. I have no proof of this, but I think it should be easier to cap the AL due to the DH.

I think it would be a disservice to ignore the AL. You got Huge money teams and Public slanted lines galore. Yankees come to mind right away.

your interleague plays were cash money. i wouldn't change what you've been doing. espically since you've been so successful.

I understand the "if it aint broke dont fix it approch" but I have changed my style at least 4 times in the last 8 years. Baseball is always changing. If I would have used the same approch 4 years ago that I used last season I would have gotten killed. If I would have done the same thing last season that I did 4 years ago I would have gotten killed.

Its the same thing in football. People like Fezzick who have been succesful in the past betting dogs and unders are getting killed the last 2 years. Cappers have a hard time changing with the times. They use old methods that were good once upon a time but bury you in todays game.

I will always keep an open mind to change. If baseball still had the NL just playing the NL and the AL just playing the AL like the old days I would do this in a heartbeat. But what may keep me from doing this is the interleague games. Thats almost 25% of the season. My interleague capping skills would be greatly diminished not following the AL.

Thanks for the imput. I guess I will stick to both. Cant wait for baseball!!!!!

I would have a hard time laying off those +280 vs Yankees lines, but the NL also has its fair share of public teams. St Louis and Chicago.

OK Dub, are you ready for some baseball? Lets you and I win a combined 300+ units this year. I know we can do it.

Maybe we can have a Braves/Phillies NLCS.

eight stright years is great I wouldn't change very much. I was curious as to how you generate your picks with so much information to process. I seem to get bogged down by too much study, maybe you can help narrow my search

I totally concentrate on certain teams...I believe certain teams are more predictable then others...and focusing/knowing 12-15 teams is the way to go....It works for me.

I think that you are on to something with the NL teams. NL games are more predictable. Managers play a bigger role as well the pitching staff as a whole. I think it is easier to seperate the good from the bad in the NL. You know what to expect from the NL

Last year was my first year of being documented on a public forum. The above record is what I did last season. Check the RX tracker forum and you will see many cappers and what they did in the past. Journeyman,Bucsfan, Dubpoet and myself just to name a few. In the last 8 years I have been anywhere from +40 to +260 betting 1 to 3 units per play.

in some respects it may be a time issue. the big issue is will you be happy betting 1-3 a day as opposed to 4-6? I dont have the capping time you do so i bet a.l. mainly and over under mechanically it sort of works. i now live in a natinal leaguecity washington so i think i may focus on n.l. east wash and fla down mets up atl philly flat. possibly midwest also st.l up houston down pitt and cinn bet against. amer league toronto up balt down wsox and clev strong and anah oak up seattle texas down. just some thoughts i do think 1 league gives more insights and should increase percentages.

Agree 100%. One of the BEST cappers i have had the pleasure in knowing in my lifetime was ONLY a National League guy. He was ALSO most a Dog player as well. Made about 1-3 bets daily and won ALL of his life, he is now gone to the Big Diamond in the Sky........RIP

The baseball forum was a license to print money last year.

Whatever you decide Chop, just come back in April-May and pick those winners, eh?
