I just found out some assholes tried to hole punch my car lock and steal my car. Little did the assholes know that I have a 2006 with a chip so you need the code or the actual key to steal it! So now I'm left with a hole about 1/4 inch wide on the drivers side and my door handle is partially off. Anybody went through this before? Did you get it done at a body shop and go through insurance? I have never filed an insurance claim my entire life but know it will go up if I file a claim so I rather pay out of my pocket. I am so pissed right now!!! Guess I should've purchased that 2 way paging car alarm now! :smoking:

:lolBIG: Hell if they would've stolen it, I wouldn't want it back. Unless it's a classic or something is personal in the vehicle, I never understood why people want they car back after a few weeks some dumbass has probably dogged out.

I have/had a 97 Acura Integra. It has been attempted stolen 6 times in the last 2 years. I sold it to my 18 year old son, so now he deals with it. Can thank Fast and Furious for glamorizing these nice little units. I have an aftermarket alarm. First time they used a suction cup to pull a window back, and popped locks, opened door, alarm went off. Second time they tried to shatter the window with a dense object, just left a bunch of divots in the glass, and then used a hanger to pop locks, ruin seal, set off alarm. Third time I could not even tell what it was as entry, open door set off alarm. Fourth time, same thing. I sold it to kid. 5th time, popped hood, cut wire to horn, dropped ignition sw cover, pulled it off and bent it to hell. Called cops this time, they said, sell the car. Poor kid had to pay for damages, that I could not fix. Flipped a lot of burgers to pay $400. And he has never done anything wrong as far as criminal activity his entire life. Last week again, this time he forgot to enable alarm, lazy. He put a club on steering wheel, but quit doing all of that, and was very fortunate to catch them in the act. A couple of black guys. Had he called 911, they would have been caught easy. They left a 4 way lug and a screwdriver for memories. The problem is, he can't afford insurance, as far as theft, because he is an 18 year old male. He has good student discounts, we have 4 drivers with spotless records on the policy. Still, insurance is more than payment on the car. No, it is not the neighborhood, as we are in the best one in our town. It is the car. Even the same cop came out, had another one crashed into a wall, stolen. He says, they all get stolen. My cooworker, a little old lady sold hers after two attempts. Garages are full of junk, so no room in there. I would just as soon red dot these idiots. The other night I was woke out of sound sleep at 4 AM hearing the car being driven off. It was my son. Not even the cops have a solution other than, insure it, or sell it.

I put a top of the line paint job on it, a deep Blue from GM, when I was a car guy. It is very nice looking for a 97. It is not the much sought after type R, but it is still a high theft rate unit. He now has loud exhaust, booming subwoofers, his first ticket ever, noise ticket. But it is the unit, and the kids strip them and race them. Personally, I think the Asians farmed out the theft to the brothers. Back in my time it was the Cutless Supreme. I doubt it is worth $5,000. But they are getting more and more scarce. I feel for my kid, as he deserves better. But he loves the car, it is a classic old school to his generation. And it does get 30+ mpg. The world we live in I guess. If it was France, it would be a pile of ashes.

You should report it to insurance if the damage to the car is over the deducitable. This will not riase your insurance since you were not involved in the damage. You did nothing wrong so they have nothing to screw you with.

I got my car stolen a few times as well as broken into and my insurance never has gone up. I got hit by a dear last year and it did not go up b/c I was not at fault.

Did this happen in front of your house? I have heard some insurance increase your insurance by saying you live in a high crime area if your car gets broken into a few times. I never had that issue.

Only way to afford insurance for an 18 year old male is have a high deductible. As in $500. Sadly it is a lesson in life my kid has to pay for being what he is, instead of his own actions. It frustrates me to no end seeing him spend his hard earned money like that. But, I try to get my kids prepared for real life, even copay his insurance. Retrospect, I would have never bought the car, or sunk the money I have into it, knowing this would occur. One of those all in deals.

No, I believe it actually happened at work and I didn't notice it for a few days until today when I happened to park far enough away to see a mini dent and looked further. Same thing happened a few months ago to a lady I work with when she drove her husband's Expedition to work. Eyewitnesses said they saw 4 black guys with hoodies sped off once someone I work with spotted them in the parking lot. Probably were these assclowns and you can tell they were amateurs though because a pro would've known I need the actual key or code w/ access to the car's computer and a couple of hours to make a chip to make a duplicate key for a 300 so all they did was caused damage. I haven't driven the car for a couple of days before I noticed today. I live in the suburban D.C. area and even out here it's starting to become a dump and people have told me their insurance has gone up out where I live but I haven't seen any changes yet. Seems like the trash is moving everywhere including where I live and work. Wasn't like this when I first moved here either. Thanks for the advice.

You did right thing with your son and had good intentions unfortunately this society is turning into a fucking sewer where other people are too fucking lazy to work hard for their own and victimize those who do work hard for theirs.

Man. I could not have said that better myself. I am afraid the ones that do work hard will someday be overwhelmed from supporting the ones that do not. I live in one of the lowest crime rate areas in the state. When I worked in the Vallejo/Richmond area, those people had to send their kids to private schools. And we got a lot of cars in, shot to shit in drive bys. Scary.

I live in Mo County in Potomac for the last 6 years. I used to live PG in Hyattsville and Laurel when I was a kid.

Spent most of my life (20+ years) in Silver Spring in Briggs Chaney.

Good to hear neighbor! Familiar with both areas quite well. I'm a transplant here to the area. Been considering a move out to AA county and this may have been the straw that broke the camels back. Gotta price the trash out is the saying around here.

4 months ago, some assholes tried to steal my car in St Louis. They didn't get it, but caused $2500 damage to it. My buddy that I was visiting there just had his car stolen last week, parked in the same spot. It was such an inconvenience, but more than that, I just felt so violated. In addition, it was a college football Saturday, and I missed getting a bet in that would have won easily, and to make up for the missed win, I doubled up on the later game, and lost on a terrible beat. I was so furious, and it really bothered me for about a week. I had to make a decision to forgive them in my heart, in order to get over it. If you can let go of it, it will all blow over and be a distant memory. But I do understand your anger, and know exactly how you feel.

Definitely file the claim, DO NOT pay out of pocket unnecessarily. I worked in insurance, and this is a non-chargeable claim, so it will do nothing to raise your rates. No worries there, and definitely use the coverage that you've been paying for for things exactly like this.

Crime is factored into premiums, but it is based on the zip code where it is stored, and not on claims experience of one particular customer. A claim should definitely be filed, provided the damage exceeds the deductible.
