Yet they still only fill 78% of the seats and are 24th in attendance. Sad really how the Triangle treats its only pro franchise. I know college sports around eats into that, but still quite sad.

Some props to my buddy Sherwood on this one. He called Marlins a few years ago when they won at huge odds.

In private e-mails between me and Brian ( Sherwood) he reccomended Carolina to me at about 20:1. This was in December. I trust the Canadian guy to know hockey, my thing is getting the best price. I found him ( and myself) 40:1. I even found him some 60:1. It was never posted as a pick here, or on his site, either !

Ironically I passed this on to former poster Sherman (via e-mail), shortly before his departure. Sherman can verify that point, as he pops in from time to time.

I wish I had more of that 40:1, or some of the 60:1, but I don't have nearly as much of that as I'd like.

Sherwood loaded up on the 60:1 at WWTS about a month ago. If you like it at 20:1, you gotta like it more at 40:1, and love it at 60:1.

Carolina and Ottawa in East finals seems likely. We have Wild as 100:1 shot for the west.

Way to early to make these sort of predictions.

Lots of teams playing very well right now..........NEW JERSEY and TAMPA BAY come immediately to mind. The FLYERS will be a force to reckon with too come playoff time too.

ALL EIGHT teams that make the playoffs in the EAST will have a LEGIT shot at reaching the CUP FINALS.................this conference is loaded..........as evidenced by the defending and very talented TB LIGHTNING club being the 8th place team currently.

Ottawa will be huge fav over most teams, not because they are so much better, but because they are the very public team. Value does not lie in NYY, Indy Colts, Ott Sens type of futures.

e

Agree, OTTAWA will and should be the odds on favorite to win the Eastern Conference at this time.

A OTTAWA vs TAMPA BAY 1st round match-up is not far fetched at this moment.............WOW!!

As a TB fan, dread that................hoping for Philly as the Lightning seem to have their number.

Hockey is a distant 3rd in the Triangle.

1-NASCAR
2-ACC Hoops
3-Hurricanes

Thank the great NHL commish for screwing the fans out of great markets in Canada and Minnesota for years and placing teams in Nashville, Raleigh, Miami, Phoenix, and Atlanta. These teams will never get the support. All about the potential skybox revenue.

DEVILS have reeled off NINE in a row and the BOLTS have reeled off THREE.

THEY MEET THIS THURSDAY IN TAMPA!

many people in this area(raleigh) didn't think the canes would be supported in the long run. first and foremost this is a college town. die-hard college basketball fans and the football interest has really grown over the years. people in this area put their first dollars in basketball, football, nascar(not me) and what is left over towards hockey. its a tough sell.

with all that said, i'm a die-hard hockey fan. played for 15 years. hope it makes it but karmanos has to go.
