I'd say three times as many Steeler fans as Seahawk fans. Thoughts?

Steeler fans will be selling their wife and kids for a ticket to the Super Bowl.

Seriously the market for tickets just went way up because of Steeler fans.

Last year in Jax, I remember there being SO many Eagles fans. It was amazing......I was told that most of the people there were sporting some team colors. Prolly only 7-10,000 people who have no allegiance there

This is on the SB FAQ website
How do I get tickets to Super Bowl XL?

a. The NFL distributes approximately 1% of the tickets to fans through an annual Super Bowl random drawing. The drawing is not considered a lottery (there is no charge to enter). This is the NFL's only method of distributing tickets to the general public. The deadline for entry has passed; it was June 1, 2005.

More information:
Requests for the random drawing are accepted between February 1st and June 1st of each year, preceding the game. For Super Bowl XL the drawing will be in 2005. The drawing is held in October. There are no complimentary tickets available.

Specifics on ticket breakdown:

The two participating teams each get 17.5% of the allotment

Each of the 29 remaining teams receive 1.2% of the allotment (or 35% of the total)

The NFL uses 25% for corporate sponsors, charity and other league related needs

The Host Team (the Detroit Lions) receive about 5% of the allotment

So 35% of the tickets actually go to the teams involved in the game and 65% to others

No team gets an edge in the SB. They might have more fans, but never enough to make it an edge. Steelers probably get more fans, but not by a massive edge.

You people all haven't been to the Northwest to see how crazy people are about the Hawks and Mariners even though neither has done a thing to deserve the support they get. The most die-hard won't let 2000 miles stop them from getting into Ford Field for the biggest thing to ever happen to Seattle sports.

You beat me to it...the better question is how much steeler fans will outnumber seahawks fans at the snowball fight outside Ford Field during super bowl week. Or, who many more Steeler fans will have toes amputated from frost bite during super bowl week.

Super bowls today are one big corporate blow job, the football fan has nothing to do with it. If the Raiders ever got back in the NFL would probably ban their fans.

Actually the playing surface in FF is simular to what the hawks play on that is more of a advantage then fan support since crowd noise wont effect teams on the field.

Neither side will have trouble selling their 17.5% of the allotment of SB tickets they get,

Im sure the 65% of corporate bozos could be more pro steeler because of the tradition since hawks have only been around since 76.

But in most cases their just there to watch the game and didnt follow either team during the season

L5Y, USC is 4-0 vs SEC, outscoring them 167-48!!!

One thing to bear in mind, this is the first ever trip to a super bowl for Seattle, where Pitt has been there how many times? Seattle pops their cherry, and have been waiting well, forever. Playing surface and the dome are much larger factors. People can yell and scream, wave their terrible towels and it won't do anything this game. A good 50% of the people will make noise when their own team has the ball. Regular season ticket holders lottery and most get left home. This is a game where the teams on the field make the difference. Let me think of the last Pitt Super Bowl, I see Neil O'Donnell, playing more like Rosie O'Donnell. I see Pittsburg getting shellacked. Big Ben going to play a real pass defense instead of Cincy, Indy and lame Denver. I will take the more experienced QB and hope he can play as well as he has lately.

Best Wishes...OF :103631605

Right, I understand how many tickets are distributed. But being from Jax, I saw tons of fans from both sides there. And two buddies of mine worked as vendors going up and down the aisles for the game and told me that most people had one jersey or the other on (many more Iggles fans than Pats fans too)
