Both have been playoff teams the last few seasons. The last team to come from nowhere was the Panthers. Sometimes the media will spoonfeed you the teams they think should be there. I think ESPN John Clayton thought Balt and Minny. Then they switched to Indy and Philly, then Indy and Panthers. Sometimes it takes the cush sked, like Seattle 8-0 in division, because it was a division of dregs. However Zona was a dark horse for many also. When I grabbed Seattle at 23-1 to win it all, I thought they had a shot to get there, a steady progression in the works, a good coach, a good QB, a very good and constant O line, and a very good but unknown rb. Now they are not unknown, and all of the value is gone. I discounted false fave Philly, seeing the defense really fall off, and TO doing the same exact look at me, my team and QB suck act as he did at SF. Atl with a media hyped Vick that gets beat down worse every year, and the rest of the teams beating the hell out of each other.
Pitt has been right there, even before Big Ben, and he amazingly got them to the AFC title last year. Cincy could have beat them, but Carson got injured very first long ball, without him, not a shot. Indy the false fave was another creampuff sked team, but they had the worst end of season possible. Still, one freaky play from knocking Pitt out. Denver, just not built to excel post season. Both Pitt and Seattle are the most deserving to be there. If you believe the propaganda spewed by the talking heads you might not think so now, but a few of the analysts liked Sea very early. Pitt finally has a QB besides Tommy Maddox or Rosie O Donnell. One bad thing about the paper teams, that is usually the only place they look good, and on the field that just does not cut it. Pitt may have got some breaks in the post season, but not in the Denver game. Wash or Caro just had no shot against Sea. Both of these representative squads were live coming into the season, and both had been in the post season the last few seasons. Neither came from nowhere.
Hey, we could have a OT super Bowl, at least a great game. Better than last year with McNabb running out of Cambell's soup during the game.
