Just listened to an interview with ESPN's Chris Berman on a local sportstalk radio show. He was asked about the end of "NFL Primetime", as the show will no longer be on ESPN on Sunday nights. His response was probably the dumbest thing I have heard in a while.

He said the feeling that he had at the end of his last NFL Primetime show was just as bad a feeling as what Tony Dungy was feeling when his son died and also compared it to what the family's of the miners in West Virginia felt.

WOW! He just made himself sound like an IDIOT! :monsters-

Are you saying that he couldn't have that feeling because the show was so close to him.....like a family member?

The anguish he is feeling may be comparable to that of losing a family member, but to publicly state that seems quite insulting and insensitive to Dungy & the miners' families.

You would think he would be empathic enough to realize how comparing a "job change" to a family member's death could rub people the wrong way.

Any link to a story?

Can't believe he would say that, he's pretty careful about what comes out of his mouth.

never looked like he was too careful about what went in his mouth ..

fat ass ..

he has had this assumption that he is as big a star as the players . i've never seen it that way..

the sunday pre game show would be much better if they removed him and just let ditka , young, jackson , irvin and mortensen talk football..

It was an interview from this morning on my local sportstalk radio station, 790 The Ticket.

off the Berman topic, but still idiotic stuff from ESPN

That's like that one ESPN reporter asking the owner of the horse Lost in the Fog this summer at Saratoga how the race the horse was about to run compare to the Battle of the Bulge. The owner, who was in the battle, looked at the reporter like he had two heads.

I remember that. The guy just stood there with a blank look on his face like "Huh????"

I still think the best one was a reporter asking Doug Williams....:How long have you been a black quarterback?" If that doesn't take the cake I don't know what does!:nohead:

wait a minute, wtf? why would they stop airing NFL Primetime, it's one of the best sports shows, period! I realise they don't have the Sunday night games anymore, but they could still show Primetime!??!?!?!? This sucks.

NBC is going to do a pregame show prior to the Sunday night game which will include highlights from all the games and I think ESPN knew more people would tune into NBC then ESPN.

But I liked prime time

If I am not mistaken I beleive NBC had in their contract that ESPN was not allowed to air PrimeTime any more. Please correct me if I am wrong.

Is there anything online about him making this statement? I'm coming up empty searching, and you would sure think that there would be quite an uproar over this dumb ass comment.

Good riddance to the ESPN Primetime show. I can't stand Berman or Jackson aka "missing link".

You want to talk about brain dead statements, how bout Jackson saying the Patriots were not going anywhere because "the players hate their coach". After that statement the Pats won 14 games in a row to win their 2nd super bowl, and followed up the next year with another super bowl win.
